Great thread and very informative! I had to flip between Google and back several times with terms like "shackle flip" etc, etc. I learned a lot (especially that I have a lot to learn)
Thanx for taking the time to post this.[thumbzup]
I say find someone who NEEDS to restore it and negotiate a finders fee/trade for the wheels you need. That way you get what you need and a piece of history is retained.
Also based on the pic Danger Ranger posted maybe it was an MV.
Ah well maybe not but its a great restoration project...
Grab a Chilton Manual (Autozone 28622 or NAPA 799-2488 That will help you with most basic mechanical repairs. (I checked mine and it has the procedure you need)
You will also need a steering wheel puller (Napa # 776-9062 actually its a Balancer puller but should suffice) and Lock plate tool...
Thanx for the replies, I'm already starting to feel at home:smile:
I'm sure I'll be hitting you guys up for "Show and tell" education.
Vinnies10: NICE Dually!!
Hello all Steel Soldiers! My name is Chris, I live in Stockholm NJ but hope to be moving to the Winston Salem NC area in the near future.
I've been checking in here for a bit but only joined a short time ago.
I like what I see with people giving their time and knowledge freely. I also find it...
NJ is kinda like crack, It takes all your cash to feel good for 15 min but you'd be better of if you just said NO!
Anywho Welcome from a fellow Noob:lol:
Campers
Reminds me of when I used to remove the rear seat of my Bronco and toss a full size mattress in for camping. To heck with sleeping on the ground LOL.
Nice Job!![thumbzup]
