Thanks for the reply. I tested the relay and it seems to be working fine, guess I will drop the starter and check it out.
The wires that I mentioned that had been spliced on the engine side of the firewall were purple, not pink, looked at them again this morning without the sun shining on them.
Went to start the 1009 yesterday and just got a click. Charged the batteries, didn't seem to help. Found a loose connection on one of the batteries and tightened it up, still no luck. Found a crappy crimp fix a PO did on a large pink wire coming out of the fuse box that looks like it goes to...
I guess I didn't realize there were so many ways that plows mount. This diagram is a plow similar to mine, the pins are parts 16

I like the idea of using springs to keep tension on the spring clips.
Thanks for the reply. I am not sure how to post pics.
The pins I am referring to are the 2 pins that attach the plow assembly to the plow frame on the truck (at the end of the A frame). I am running an old Meyers plow.
I have tried all kinds of pins, actual Myers pins, hitch pins from...
Was out plowing yesterday with the M1009 and lost a hinge pin on the plow which caused me to bend the plows A frame mount. Hopefully I can find a hinge bar in town and fix it today so I can finish plowing. Got 13" Saturday and with the high winds, a lot of drifts.
CUCVRUS, I know you have a...
Never thought about a bench. It's my plow truck and I rarely have a passenger, so rear passengers wouldn't be a problem, been thinking about taking out the rear seat anyways.
I've looked at several different GM seats in the PAP and nothing looks like the same shape. I guess I will dismantle...
I hate driving with a seat reclined, never could figure out the guys that drive like that on purpose.
I figure the seat frame slowly got bent over the years from people bouncing around while off road. My other K5 doesn't seem to have the problem. The left side of the drivers seat seems like...
Trying to figure out how to fix the drivers seat in my M1009, it's leaning back and twisted towards the right. I'm guessing this is a pretty common problem. Was thinking about taking it apart and trying to straighten out the back frame. Any suggestions?
I don't drive it much, plan on using it mostly as a snowplow right now. There's a nice looking lifted M1008 that I see around town once in a while, but I haven't talked to the owner yet.
I thought that would be the place to hook it up, most of the threads I looked at pulled 12 volts off the battery, but I didn't know if that would work for a plow. Will try to finish it up tomorrow.
I am getting ready to wire up the plow on my M1009, and am wondering where to pull the power for the pump from. As far as I can tell my truck still has the original 24 volt system on it.
Started mounting a snowplow that I took off of my 1980 K20. Now I know why shops charge so much to swap plows, what a pain in the backside! Hope to finish up this weekend.
Hi, been lurking here for a couple of months, finally getting around to signing up.
I am new to military vehicles, picked up a 1985 M1009 this summer to use as a snowplow. I have a few Chevy squarebodies, and when I came across the M1009, I couldn't pass it up.
It's in pretty good shape...
