Working on repairing the rust I found the front crossmember end to be totally rusted way. Sorry I do not have a good photo to show the damage. Anybody have a parts vehicle with one of the cross member with a good end? I really do not desire to fabricate a new part. Thanks, Todd
Hey Joe,
I have to tell you I am rethinking the SeaFaom Green. There is some evidence it was used, but not a lot that I could locate. So I'm now leaning toward the white. But first some rust repair.
I did have to cut a lot of the screw out - ok drill them out.

So as I started to removed things today - big surprise I found rust. So now the process of removing and fixing. The question, what is the best option on this?
Part of me wants to remove the z section between the roof and wall, the other part of me is leaning to cutting and 'scabbing'...
So I have a few weeks between two jobs. The 'honey do' list is done - so now it is on to the M43 list.
Working on removing everything in the passenger compartment - based on the recommendations of others that have proceeded before me.
The start of the day (ok hours) and the ending.
Tomorrow I...
It is time for the M43 to return to the workshop. The Jeep Willy's is almost done, but no longer need to be in the work area. The engine and transmission are just waiting to be reinstalled.
I drove it home of course. I figured if I got pulled over I would beg for forgiveness. I will talk to Wayne next week - he had the title. I will drive it until the Willy's is done, then it is next for some work. However, with very little rust the work will be a lot easier.
Your comment abut Pierre is too funny. I was at an auction yesterday looking at a M601 - and guess who was there - Yeap Pierre. He is a great source of information and so willing to share it. Thanks to a Steel Soldier member for 'hooking' me up with him.
I no longer ask if I am nuts - it is confirmed. This M601 followed be home today. The funny thing is that I was not going to bid on it at the auction - but my wife was standing along side me tell me to and even giving me the final price to bid too.
In case you are wondering were the restoration states - will a slight delay. A 1947 Jeep Willy's came my way and my son wanted it this summer - so a slight delay. While it might not be military - we are still going with OD, canvas seat, top, etc.
Yesterday another interesting vehicle came...
My Wife told me if I bought one more MV SHE would paint it pink. I guess at least I can say it is not a MV!
Because my son is ROTC / criminal justice he wants to decal it MP. There is one on eBay (I think I can so that and not violate the rules) that we are going to steal some of his ideas.
New (Old) Jeep is home
So I went to pick up the 'army jeep'. Will it's not an MV it is a 1947 Willys. Do I dare say Ugh. I was really hoping it to be a MV. Of course with it being a 1947 it was right in the years were the military did not purchase them.
My son really wanted a military...
WellDigger - so you see what other people have written - I started the 'steaming' and will continue. The worse that can happen - I've learned a new lesson.
I boiled hot water in this 'tea pot' of my wife. HOT water in 3 minutes (much like my life). Poured into tube, capped at let it sit...
It is official - I am nuts! Coming home to day is a jeep. What type, condition, etc? Unknown. A coworker knew I have a truck or two (ok three). He asked if I wanted another one. All he knows is that it is a jeep - thinks WWII age. Was driven last year. It is now painted black. Hmmmm, do...
Posted this question this morning - 0840 hours. By 0914 hrs two PM on where to located them. They are now on the way. Thank you Steel Soldiers Members.
I have searched this site, watched ebay, completed a Bing Search, stopped at my local truck store, but nothing . . .
I have two rotating Federal Lights (MS51317-3) with broken lens. Anybody know where to purchase them??
I know, I should have come to SS and ask, but I thought I would be able...
Ron - thanks so much for the info. Your advice worked wonderfully. First one is sitting in the bending jig now drying, with the second one is in the steamer now. Might just replace all of them.
Before somebody says it (worthless without photos) I will add photo when I put the second board...
