    wheel stud replacement

Draw the new one back in with a lug nut, may need some washers under it as you get to the final seating of the lug bolt head.

    Introducing the Soldier B HubHelper!!

Nice tool! I am lucky enough to have some damaged rims for both 5 and 2 1/2 tons. I will torch or plasma cut the center out of them to get the bolt pattern ring and go from there with adding the brackets by welding.

Looking for thread on a souped up multi fuel engine

Might have been my son Dan and I, SS ID M543A2 but I would not know how to find the old thread. We did a lot of the things you mention along with some IP work. Gasket matched the intake and exhaust ports and did a lot of bowl work under the valves for better flow. He builds our racing heads...

Curious if the m35a2 Hercules motor can be swapped to a car

We helped a friend put one in a Chevy dually. Worked pretty well, used the Deuce trans. The truck had electrical problems he had not addressed. It later caught fire and was destroyed. :( All that work gone!!!

    302 vs 331 Holley carb

I have been guilty of enlarging jets on many engines. I usually go up one or two drill sizes and try it if I am working with the stock jets. Yes, it usually yields more power depending on the situation. You can do it, then after driving a while, pull some spark plugs and see if they are blacker...

    M16 Halftrack joins the family

I always wondered how the steering reacted when the outer dual on front hit a rock, etc. on trucks with no power steering! I would think it would be a thumb breaker if you had your thumbs around the wheel as the wheel was spun in your hands. When cranking the old tractors by hand we always made...

    Shield Deuce

I have a deuce with a dump mechanism and grain sides used on the farm to haul grain. I also use my 5 ton dump the same way. A very unique truck; congratulations!

    Timber Rattlesnake on Air Cleaner

Looks like packing something like a .45 with bird shot rounds would be a good idea for a lot of you folks-----!!

    Timber Rattlesnake on Air Cleaner

Farmers know that a group of hogs will find and kill any snakes in the area. Probably not possible, but fence it in and get some hogs. You will see them going around snorting and chuffing as they find one, biting it to death quickly. They don't seem to mind strikes.

    new owner of a m448

If you have at least a one ton pickup I would put the magnetic taillight kit vendors like Harbor Freight have on it and tow it home.

What smaller trucks would a deuce engine fit in ?

We helped a guy that put one with the transmission in a one ton older Chevy dually. Mostly we just helped with out M543A2 setting the motor in place. He got it done and used it to haul campers from Indiana to Florida. He would never check and adjust the valves on the rear three cylinders because...

It's home and the rebuild can start

Good to see you are restoring it! Nice thing about these cabs is there is a lot of flat metal involved, not curving fender stampings, etc. Harbor Freight has nice 110 and 220 volt hand portable spot welders. I bought one, have not used it yet, but think it will be very handy for panel work, etc.

    Anyone paint their aluminum radiator?

Can you call the supplier again and ask their opinion? I like to go direct to the source for things like this. Personally, I do not paint them. Bare metal, especially aluminum, is an excellent heat conductor. You will not find any oil cooling radiators on industrial equipment, hydraulic power...

save M715 original or making it practical ?

We have had four trucks with the 230 OHC Tornado motor. Two were civilian and two were M715's. We found the motor to be sensitive to tuning. Keep it in tune and we never felt we hurt for power. The first civilian pickup we owned had been used by a local elevator to pull loaded fertilizer buggies...

    M886 wheel question

I have set up the rims in a lathe and enlarged the OD of the center hole. You need a lathe with enough 'swing' to do it though. A rough cut method carefully done will work since the Dodge wheels are centered by the bolts so an irregular center hole will not matter.

    Injector Pop-Tester Adapter for Deuce

I took the farm boy quick adapt route. I used a fitting that screwed into the tester and brazed a parts bin Multifuel injection line's pump head end to it with the orientation such that when the fitting was tight in the tester the line was oriented to be right to hold the injector in a good...

    Metal Shavings

I can add also that I bought a used centrifuge to spin out particles in the oil we drain. They can be found on Ebay for around $50. I observe the stratification of the result of the spinning in the bottom of the tubes and then remove the residue from the plastic test tube and check it both with...

    Metal Shavings

Easy check for the type of metal is to open up the oil filters and check the media for particles trapped there as well as checking the drained oil by running a magnet in and over the particles. If they adhere to the magnet then they are steel, etc of ferrous origin. If they do not adhere then...

Consise clear instructions on fuel adjust

Five tons and deuces are the same. adjustment is in front of and below the fuel compensator and may have a seal or cap on it. remove this if applicable. grind down an open end wrench to a little less than the thickness of one of the nuts. this allows you to HOLD the back nut while loosening the...

    1953 xm211 resurection

On the bottom of the transmission pan there are two plugs, one labeled oil and the other water. Drain the coolant (water) and remove the front cover on the transmission pan. Carefully clean out any crud that might be in the compartment. A garden hose should work fine, just no high pressure...
