My M998 finally made it home!

The F-250 I used has the 6.2 gas engine. It's a work truck: single cab, 8' bed, 4wd, tow package, and not many frills beyond that. It did just fine, although being gas, revved a bit more than I was comfortable with to maintain highway speeds through the hills of VT and NH. My opinion is the 6...

My M998 finally made it home!

I was responding to 941038 : he asked me what I towed the HMMWV home with.

My M998 finally made it home!

A competent but totally uninteresting vehicle I borrowed from a friend: a 2015 Ford F-250. To me, the most remarkable thing about it was that it was able to be spec'd with heated mirrors and simultaneously without cruise control! The integrated brake controller was very nice.

My M998 finally made it home!

Thanks! I'm think I'm going to keep it green. I'm definitely doing the grounding harness and glow plugs. The truck has a new(ish) Natron EESS that I don't think is the older PCB that I heard was prone to setting the truck on fire, otherwise that would be nearly first on the list. Until my back...

My M998 finally made it home!

The EUC took a little over 100 days to clear. I gave up on the trucking company after about a month of them not being able to get the HMWMV to me. The trip from NH to outside of Ft. Dix and back took 16 hours in a tow vehicle that didn't have cruise control. But it was all worth it, since my...

Govplanet HMMWV initial bid set to 5000

I'm expecting my m998 in January (if the EUC comes through) and am most likely a one-vehicle collector, but I have an almost academic interest in the effect this will have on the ultimate closing price of HMMWVs on GP. My guess is there will be a weird transition period where people still think...

    Replacing the HMMWV Windshield

I may take you up on that if I begin grinding my teeth too much :-) Thanks!

    Replacing the HMMWV Windshield

Thanks for the write up! When my m998 arrives I have to do the same procedure, and this will be helpful in keeping the number of screens I go through down to a minimum :-)

Govplanet HMMWV initial bid set to 5000

Hey all, Sort of a PSA, since I was curious when I saw it. I contacted GovPlanet customer service, and they told me that the initial bid on all HMMWVS is going to be 5000, regardless of condition. Hope this helps prevent any confusion!

Post HMMWV influx: aftermarket or OEM canvas parts?

That's good to hear. I've so far collected three NOS soft doors for prices that in this market aren't ruinous (around $90 a piece). My hope is the top and curtain are in OK condition when I receive the vehicle. I contacted Breton industries in upstate NY, one of the suppliers of canvas parts...

Post HMMWV influx: aftermarket or OEM canvas parts?

I agree, the two man kits look pretty reasonable right now, which is one of the reasons I may go that way. Another reason is that here in NH, the less canvas I have trying to support snow load, the better! Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. The prices will be what supply and demand...

Post HMMWV influx: aftermarket or OEM canvas parts?

With luck, in about 10 weeks I'll collect my new-to-me HMMWV. I'm so excited! :jumpin: Like many on the forum, I'm a new HMWMV owner, and like many, have some work to do to bring my V back into condition. I've been pleasantly surprised at the availability of hard parts (hubs, glow plugs, seals...
