Yeah, I'm not so concerned with eventually acquiring the impact & chainsaw, but I could put that auger to use right away drilling holes to support my water tower, and later the windmill. I also want the optional hoist for the HMMH crane, if it isn't a unicorn, I still don't know?
Get an Oasis DC-brushless compressor. I replaced the one that came in my service body, with the same thing in a continuous-duty (the difference is cooling fans); I'm running an *optional* receiver tank on the service body, this ain't yer Daddy's DC air compressor! I got a 2nd new Oasis, in 24V...
Every time I get out of a FLU, I swear imma order earmuffs, passenger seat's the worst. ;) Too many Dead shows in my past, for the FLUs not to make my ears set to ringin' after 20 minutes or so!
Yeah. :( I'll take made in Brazil over made in China any day, it wasn't that long ago that lotsa Bosch stuff in the US market was Brazilian, now it's mostly made in China (or at least the knockoffs are, and how can anyone tell) like everything else, so NOS is well worth it if you can find it...
What I mean by searching out a part #, is where does EI or Porsche source theirs from? In many cases, a mechanical switch like that is used in other industries, costing half as much as it would if sourced as an auto part, even on fleabay. Especially if the Germans have rebranded it! Searching...
Sure, if your criteria is "any ol' switch." I've been searching for either the part # for the stock switch, or a replacement switch that fails "safe." The switch on my HMMH does nothing. Maybe it was wired around, but that would surprise me, seeing as there's no evidence (unlike my SEE) the...
I'm not trying to sell anyone on LFP batteries, just explaining why I'm splurging on 'em at this point in my life. Thinking back to the turn of the century, I'm pretty sure FLU Farm caught loads of grief for radical expenditures on AGM batteries & desulphating chargers and such. I can only...
Wait, what? Tilt the cab? TM 5-2420-224-20-2 pg 4-171 says different. Granted, I haven't tried it yet and I'm always the first one to gripe about how looking something up isn't the same thing as experience, but what I really meant was pulling up the *inner* center panel, without even pulling the...
My SEE headlights always want to be hi-beam unless I physically push the stalk forwards for lo-beam. Like a spring's missing or something, so I'll probably remove & refurbish the hi/lo switch while I'm at it. Plus, with those batteries on order, now's a good time to re-do the battery primary...
My next project after the service body wraps up, while the motorhome work continues, is sorting out the lighting systems on my FLUs. The upper headlights work on my HMMH, not the lower; vice-versa on the SEE (yeah, I do wish it was the other way around). Various brake lights / turn signals...
Unless you're talking about the rats... my best solution there, is my malamute! She's psyched for "marmot season" coming up. Marmots (aka whistle pigs) are cute and all, but it takes them less than five minutes to burrow under the trailer and tear out all the insulation. They sure love...
We may be giving the rats a bad rap in this thread because their droppings are so visible -- possibly just nesting in our FLUs, while the real wiring damage was done by:

Look at the map... where's Red River Depot? ;) These little guys just love...
My series/parallel switch arrived this afternoon, it's warm enough outside I'm pulling an allnighter making cables and wiring it up to the service body by lamplight. Unfortunately, it's the sort of major design change that shouldn't be left for halfway through an installation! I mocked things up...
That battery connector's a nice touch, what all do you plug into it?
Also, speaking of tires... ranchers around here swear by putting a little Calcium Chloride (road salt) in their tractor tires. Filling tires from an air compressor results in a little bit of water getting inside, which builds...
Nice wiring job. I also use tin-plated copper heavy-duty lugs with the pre-sized solder slugs, and heavy-duty adhesive-lined shrink tubing. I just finished another cable for the service body, I'm headed outside to install it now before it's too dark, and cut my next length of wire. I'm using...
Right, the diagnostic system would be vulnerable to lightning. I spent a few winters running chairlifts, a dirty little secret of the ski industry is how many upper-mountain lifts have had their brains scrambled by lightning. Not a danger to anyone really, it's just sometimes why you get stuck...
Yeah, and I just sent a 40yo wet-cell off to the recyclers, one winter in the CO Rockies was all it had left! Newer chemistries, done right, make that the rule instead of the exception. In a creek, your chassis becomes "earth grounded" but once you're back on land, it's back to "floating...
I need to get in touch with these guys...

...see if they'll don their lab coats & white gloves and put different batteries in a bathtub, add salt 'til they explode and such!
