If you are going to buy a welder, buy one you can use for a bunch of stuff. IMHO Stay away from any 110vac welders, they are all junk. You cannot weld much over 1/8 inch in a single pass, and the duty cycle is very low. Flux core is fine to start with, But you will want to add a mig conversion...

I might be past there for work, sadly that's as close as I'll get.

Mesure from the ground to the axle vents. Thats the deepest i would go without prep.

I dont know how you have your truck taged, or what yo use it for but in most states full hydro steering is illegal. You must have a mechanical connection between the wheel and the steering mechanism.

What turbo is on it?

I think they are about 1800lbs dry.
