May be buying this '84 1009...but....

That is a big negative. Mine is and always has been a west coast truck and has rust. Remember looking at trucks from bases based near the ocean, they will see extensive moisture. Mine has some rust here and there, and it's been on the west coast since 86'!

Behr Paint Jobs- Show me your MV's

Air brush? Y'all could use a roller and get te same result. Behr paint doesn't leave any streaks. Once the sun comes out I'll snap some pics. The only thing I dislike about Behr is the incredibly long curing process.. Two days after first paint there was fog which ruined my first coat

do all CUCV's drain their batteries?

Yes yes my friends I figured that all out after reading the manual I was prescribed for the truck. I can assure you the lights were off. The only electrical add-ons for this vehicle were the doghead starter mod, fog lamps, and then an aftermarket stereo. Other than the relay mod, I've removed...

    cucv headlight recomendations

only thing that is really "wrong" with the superstars are their life expectancy. I used to run a few in some of my BMW's and they just did not last as long as my OE ones did, but they definitely were brighter.

do all CUCV's drain their batteries?

funny story, I googled "jump start 24v with 12v" and a thread on steel soldiers popped up. It told me to lightly charge the first battery with the 12v car, then go to the second battery and boom the truck started right up. The m1009 wouldn't even turn over before so I like that approach.

do all CUCV's drain their batteries?

I come from the BMW world where I can leave my car for 2 months and come back and start the old girl right back up like it was yesterday, but I left my M1009 sitting for 8 days or so and the batteries had drained and I had to jump it with a 12V jeep. I was just curious if this is a common issue...

tan paint came out too yellow?

ah okay thanks fellas. Glad to know it looks alright. I left the truck out and the fog did a number on the paint. Left streaks all on the sides. What a shame. Put the truck inside and hopefully another coat will help it out!

tan paint came out too yellow?

Hello all. I went ahead and first started painting my truck with the krylon camouflage khaki and also tested sand and didn't really think either matched the CARC 686 paint, so I went ahead and tried out the Behr formula. I'm not sure what to think of my results. At one angle(the side) I think it...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

started painting the M1009. I picked desert khaki/tan instead of OD green. Thoughts? I know as a Navy truck it was originally green, but I want to go with the Desert Storm look with the allied markings

what I just noticed is none of these bikes have kick starters. I feel as if that would be a wise idea for a military bike.

    my cucv ram-air project

OP, if you give us the part number on the air cleaner assembly, we can figure out what truck it goes to. It looks a bit more modern and would really clean up the engine bay if I could update the airbox to your style.
