glad you were able to get that started sooner than I was able to. Hopefully nothing too surprising was under there and hopefully that pot blaster and cabinet you're borrowing will come in handy!
you can swap to whatever you want, fairly common, check out g741, lots of threads on brake lights.
If you look at the original wiring diagram only one side was a tail light, the other was blackout only, hence having two different lights.
Truck used to be mine, moving out of Maine and will be in an apartment for the while so I'm happy that it gets to go to a new home. Truck has a build thread on G741 already. Good truck for me and I'm just glad I hadn't started the restomod yet so it can go back to original. Will be a good truck...
Hey guy, found out I'm moving and don't want to have to sell my M37. I'm currently up in Augusta Maine but can get it as far south as Worcester MA if need be and would like it dropped off either in Charlotte NC or Greenville SC. If anyone is heading in that general direction sometime in the next...
Todd, when is your trip to Atlanta? I have to move an M37 from Maine to Greenville SC which is right on 85 a few hours before Atlanta. Would rather piggy back with someone going in that general direction, send a PM or email if that's something you'd be interested in doing
Tom
also keep in mind what tire size you're going to run. You will have lots of steering clearance problems if you have a wider and/or larger diameter tire on the same track width *HMMWV tires are both wider and larger as you're already aware*. Wheels won't go to full lock without rubbing on the...
top speed has little to do with it, it's optimizing engine RPM at certain speeds. with most engines you want somewhere between 1800 and 2200rpm at speed with gears. Modern roads indicate you should have 35mph, 45mph, 55mph, 65mph, and 75mph as your target speeds. With a truck like this you...
you have to find what resistance the gauge wants for empty and full and then find a universal sender that fits those ohm requirements. You're probably going to have to change the gauge. Who converted it to 6v? They were never 6v trucks so that is a weird conversion to see, not unheard of but...
you may want to go to dual carbs. It wasn't a stock option on the M37 but that engine did have a twin carb option. I think 7* might be a bit too far advanced. 4*btdc is considered optimum by the engine builders for these things. What do you have for idle rpm? You may have the idle a bit too fast...
brass is copper and zinc, bronze is typically copper and tin. Bronze is very hard and typically brittle while brass is much more malleable.
Can't help you on the change though, g741 would be able to help you better I imagine. I haven't checked on my '51 but will next week
Bert, where did you get that info from? I'm curious about this history of mine as well but also trying to find out where it went and when it got turned over to civil defense then to the town
I made a custom 1/2" socket and use a manual crank for mine. Convenient enough for me but I didn't need original as this is purely utility. Works very well though
definitely worth $2500! A lot less body work than I have to do to mine... The FD definitely ran into a few trees with mine at some point. Front left fender and running board need a little help. Looks great, now you need a hardtop on it quick to run it in the winter!

there's the build thread for mine, didn't want to run the same build thread on two forums.
I'm actually try to sell my '04 grand cherokee to get a town wagon as a daily driver until the M37 is ready
I just my M37 from Maine a few months ago as well, although I live here... Definitely couldn't beat the price... $1200 for mine in running condition with minimal rust. The fire departments treated them well up here that's for sure
the guy claiming 18 has a fresh rebuild in the engine and has 4.89's in it and has tires that are an inch taller than stock.
