25 volts using my multimeter at both the batteries and alternator. It's definitely seeming like it's a 25 volt regulated alternator. It's lester part number 7197.
I didn't post the part number because TM America only sent me the part number after paying. With his blessing, I'll post it. It is a delco cased alternator from what I understand that was used in agricultural applications.
I used TM America's brackets to do the dual alternator setup with the delco alternators. The install went reasonably well and the 12 volt alternator is doing great. The 24 volt alternator....not so much. It seems to give me a couple issues.
First issue is when I first start up the truck, the...
Bummer. It seems like Kaiser put all the pieces together for a nice filtering setup except for a pump. Now to just find a decent pump. Anything air-powered is out for me as my only source for air is the emergency gladhand on the deuce and I'd probably be burning a significant amount just to pump...
Juan, you might want to try sending a PM to timntrucks. He has a 5 ton wrecker and is in the Ponchatula area. And speaking of Tim, you're gonna have to bring your new 5 ton to the rally this April!
I'm trying to find out what the NSN is for the -12 and -34 TMs for the MEP-003 genset are. I looked in the -12 and -24P and neither listed the manual.
Thanks!
I've read a few times about making sure the IP doesn't get excessively hot, but I don't recall seeing what the acceptable temperature range for the IP while running is or how hot is too hot. I definitely want to monitor the IP temps and general engine temps for the first few hours since I've...
I finally got a chance to take a look at my genset to see how many copper washers I have. In short, I have none. I do have one, but it's forever stuck on a swollen glowplug. I found the remnants of a second that was mashed and mangled and partly in the threads for the glowplug hole. The third...
You're talking about the injector, I'm talking about the glow plugs.
When I pulled the glow plugs, 3 of the 4 did not come out on the glowplug. They may be stuck in the head, I need to get in there with a pick and see if I can find them. I would have thought they would have come out on the...
How important are the copper o-rings that seal the glowplugs to the head? Will it work fine without them, work but have some leakage, or cause catastrophic damage? I think I'm short at least a couple, and I have been unsucessful in locating some more so far. Is there a civvy part that will work...
I'm not sure how the failure occurred. Perhaps the wire got bumped around in there and it made contact with the frame somewhere. My other theory is drawing too much power, but I wouldn't think the alternator would be able to supply more power than the wire inside could handle. I dunno.
A few months ago, I realized my alternator on the deuce wasn't charging. Knowing how little the deuce relies on power, I just drove it off the batteries charging them up every couple drives. No big deal. A couple days I finally took it off the truck and opened up to find the main wire that goes...
Once you pull the steering wheel off and its lockplate, there should be a torx-headed screw roughly above the centerline of the lock cylinder on the right hand side of the face of the column. It's pretty large in diameter and seems to be made of some very light pot metal, but it pretty durable...
