hmm, well my issue is an audible jingle in the shift lever itself. its a metal on metal rattle. resting my hand firmly on the shifter makes it stop.. removing the shifter while in motion makes it stop. removing the knob made no difference. there is spring pressure going from center to the left...

ok, so is there supposed to be spring resistance going from center to the right (4th/5th) like there is going from center to the left (1st/reverse)?

1st Is the topcover rebuildable, if so please post a link to where i can find these parts. 2nd is there a bushing where the shifter pivots in the shift tower.

got an odd duck so to speak i installed a spicer 3053a in to my 1996 dodge ram cummins.. love it. just got a few bugs to work out.
