    Mep-003

Inspector here says the city uses the NEC w/o modification, so the interloc kit will be OK. With the new breaker box, what are the odds I can get by with 200 amp service? Between the house and the small guest apartment, we have two 60-gal 240v HW heaters, a heat pump in winter, 5 ton A/C in...

    Mep-003

Hey, Ike, Harley, appreciate the reply. Will check with the locals to see if the interloc kit is allowed. The house has a fuse box from the 70s, not a breaker box, so I'll be replacing that with a 200 amp Square D breaker box. I assume the meter must be pulled for that, requiring coordination...

    Mep-003

Someone posted this a couple of years ago, and I'd like to learn more. This Square D seems to be what I need. Since I plan to have the main breaker panel replaced, this seems a good choice. But what's the Square D model number for this in 200-amp service? And an unrelated question: how long...

My car in Milwaukee needs a ride to Virginia

Job completed; I had the car driven down. Sweet little vehicle.

My car in Milwaukee needs a ride to Virginia

Open or closed both ok. Just not towed on its own wheels.

My car in Milwaukee needs a ride to Virginia

It's parked in a private backyard, the seller has been paid, and he's open about leaving it there. I'd be happy to have it when I can get it but there's no rush.

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

Nearly 4 days on a 55-gal drum? 70 days on a 1,000 gallon tank. My wife will sleep comfortably thinking that.

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

That clears it up. Thanks, all. In real world home generator use, what sort of economy does an 003a give the people using them? GPH in a 48-hour outage. I've seen estimates but no 1st hand user reports.

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

We're still not fully clear how the auxiliary fuel system connects. The photos above show the rotating cap with the rubber seal that is being called the top of the auxiliary fuel adapter. One photo with the lever down, the other with the lever up. Up reveals a fuel connector fitting. The cap...

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

On mine "that large hole above the fuel filters" seems to be a pressure relief valve of some sort, turnable but not necessarily removable. It has a compression handle on top. Under the handle is a threaded fuel fitting. Any idea of its purpose? The auxiliary fuel input is off to the left as part...

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

The photo down below of the pipes, tubing, and stopper suggest they are standard equipment. Perhaps findable here or on ebay.

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

You're going to kick yourself, as I did at Tractor Supply. Olive Drab. Perfect match. Came home, breeze died down, took care of the flaking and the touch-up.

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

The pipe is threaded for a fitting, hollow, and no sign of dirt. If a grounding rod, it's unused. In the storage box, however, is a thick solid steel rod about 20 inches long with a T top that the seller used as a ground at his cabin where this gen was the only power source.

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

This 31" threaded pipe is consistent with being a copper fuel line, but your idea makes good sense.

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

Wiki said a 55-gal drum is 34.5" deep, so with fittings the 31" pipe would be about right. I plan on using a pipe down into the underground 1000 gallon heating oil tank. There's already a clean, unused copper line to the tank running passed the gen about 6" down. No foot valve on it, though...

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

On the right side of the 003A gen, in the area below the fuel filters, is a 38" storage channel with two locking arms. There is room there for two 38" pipes. I have a 31" pipe stored in the channel, actually two pipes with a threaded joint. What's it for? [See picture] And is there a name for...

My car in Milwaukee needs a ride to Virginia

Bought a nice 10Kw MEP-003A on a M116A2 3/4 ton trailer, and a car to tow it. The gen was trailered up from LA and is here in VA now, but the car is in Milwaukee. I can't fly up and get it, as my wife needs assistance part of every day and I can't just go off. We're both in our 70s. If anyone...

Before I start this mil gen ...

We finally have our generator sitting alongside the driveway. This 10Kw MEP-003A is in splendid shape. Evidently spent life under cover and was cared for. Trailer also in very good condition. There is much to learn. For one thing, is there an interlock on the AC circuit breaker, the ganged...
