A tricky question for the SS oracles

I just saw this one, at the CFS at work we cover the military trucks with a tarp, plastic but heavier then the blue ones, SOBs are almost as heavy as a canvas tarp. but then we pinch the tarp under the cribbing that we put under the axles or frame, how ever the cribbing was built. so when they...

A tricky question for the SS oracles

I don't know what happens on the other side, but we export 48' and 53' boxes all day long. however a ship that sailed yesterday heading to china, india then back to the US had about 400 53' cans onboard, and I dont even know how many 48' cans since we dont have to handle 48 footers any different...

A tricky question for the SS oracles

No problem, its the industry I work in. another thing I just thought of today, if the truck you end up with if you have tires or lift done while you're here and you get it to tall for a high cube (9'6" exterior) you can get a rag top considered by customs just as secure as a standard box so if...

A tricky question for the SS oracles

on the US side, side of the box doesnt affect shipping times or clearance times, I bet they were doing it because of the weights involved. as for theft- again Im talking just on the US side, if you just employ the shipping line to take from point A to B, your not involved other then payment and...

A tricky question for the SS oracles

depending on the length, easier way to ship one would be to just load it on a flat rack, as long as its under 96" wide doesnt cost much or any more to use a flat rack instead of box. other thing to think about is a 48' and 53' container are 102" wide instead of 96" wide like a 20' 40' or 45'

    8" lift and 395 (46") tires

Id be willing to bet, but honestly dont know, that if its welded or riveted to the frame its considered part of the frame. when you say the lowest point on the frame do they use cross members too? or just the fore and aft rails??

"Over/Around The Camper Shell" Style Rack on M1009

I'm not saying that bolting it up only on the bed rail wouldn't be safe, **** my shell is only held on by 2 bolts through the bed rails each side. I believe these caps are held on by 4 or 5 on each bed rail arent they? I don't have a K5 or M1009, so I don't know, by my fears with those bolt...

"Over/Around The Camper Shell" Style Rack on M1009

obviously neither of these are made for a shell, but these are the same basic ways Ive seen the shell lumber racks mounted

"Over/Around The Camper Shell" Style Rack on M1009

how they connect to the bed rail, Ive seen some that where that plate goes between the bed rail and cap, that's the extent of it just bolted down to the bed rail (not really my cup of tea) those MAYBE you could use a grinder and clearance the cap side of the mating surface, but Ive also seen...

"Over/Around The Camper Shell" Style Rack on M1009

gotta be careful, some of those will jack the shell on a pickup up by about 1/8th inch, might cause bolting up issues at the vertical seam? I dont know how they bold the top on, just saying. Maybe you could grind a little notch out of the top to so there is clearance for the mounting plate...

    Trailer Mod...

if you dont want to replace the winch or dont wanna spend the money you can just double the cable up to for the mechanical advantage. more cranking but less force

    8" lift and 395 (46") tires

see I feel the exact opposite, I dont have a deuce, but I really like the look of this one, Im thinking when I get mine like 5 or 6" of lift with 395s after seeing this one

Possible to use 9.00-20 tubes for 11.00-20 tires?

Im not trying to start trouble or anything just seriously asking. aren't tubes just a couple of bucks? or are truck sized tubes expensive?

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

your right, I forgot duration is measured at .05 lift not just the beginning of movement

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

FYI the rocker ratio doesnt alter the duration it alters the lift

    whats this?

ok not trying to just keep an old thread alive, but figured better here then in a whole new thread. what in the sam hill is this thing, is this part of a larger unit that was just to large to be shipped in on a lowboy? or is it some kind of tug for aircraft? or something similar

    JATONKA's winter project: M35 dump/plow truck

I dont know how the generators are set up on these things, but could you take say a 800 watt or 1000 watt (1000 probably on the high side) blanket heater and glue it to the generator body instead of oil pan?
