I'm gonna pick up a Deuce on Tuesday!

I'm gonna build a camper to slide in the back like a big truck camper. Other than that its because I've always wanted one. And yes I use the same username on that forum as well as several others. I put a deposit on the truck today and took a couple more pictures.

I'm gonna pick up a Deuce on Tuesday!

Thanks for all the advice, that helps a ton. So I will fill it up with diesel and bring it home, and after I've gone through that tank I will dry to get every last drop out and change the filters and run diesel only from here on out. Here are some pictures of the truck. It is in really nice...

I'm gonna pick up a Deuce on Tuesday!

Gonna go put a deposit on a Deuce I recently looked at today, and then go pick it up on Tuesday. I can't wait :jumpin:. Its about 35 miles away (takes about an hour mostly because of traffic) I have a few questions - here goes: 1. The owner had some gasoline in the tank - not sure if it was...

Buying a Deuce with a leaky IP?

I went and looked at another Deuce yesterday, it was in really good shape except for a leaky upper radiator hose and a couple other leaky areas. My main concern was a leaky injector pump - I should have taken some pictures because I can't remember exactly where it was leaking from, but the top...

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

That is an awesome idea, thanks!! Looked at another Deuce today that I really liked... just waiting on that dang Bobcat to sell now 'cause I'm ready to start this camper project!

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

Anyone got suggestions on how much clearance would be necessary between the top of the cab and an overhang from a camper in the bed? I know there will be some chassis flex and I wouldn't want to accidentally put the corner of the Deuce's roof through the bottom of the overhang.

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

Sorry Mike, my reply was meant to be for "wreckerman893"'s post. I will check out the site you linked. I found a picture of some of the M35's cargo bed dimension, and I've attached it to this post. I drew two arrows towards some pieces on the rear of the bed - I'm not sure what they are...

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

Finding a camper and making a frame for it would be easier, but being able to build it from scratch and place everything where I wanted would be part of the fun for that project.

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

Thanks for the ideas. I like the shelter idea but I'm guessing those are a bit hard to come by, and I'd also like to utilize the space over the cab of the truck either for extra storage or a bed. How are those shelters secured to the bed of the truck? I wouldn't want my camper shifting around...

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

I still haven't found a Deuce yet, so this may be a stupid idea because I haven't had the time to look over a M35's bed closely. I like the M109's, but they seem a lot harder to find one in good shape with a turbo and t-case for a reasonable price around here. I was wondering if anyone had...

What do you think of this Deuce? (pictures and starting video)

I really appreciate all the replies and advice. I did some reading and it sounds like this truck has the sprague system that automatically engages the drive to the front axle when the rears are spinning faster than the front. It sounds like a truck with a manual transfer case would be much...

What do you think of this Deuce? (pictures and starting video)

We used ether to start the truck today, i was spraying a little bit in the video, I just didn't have the camera in the right position while he was cranking the truck. It was about 65* out.... I agree that it shouldn't have needed ether to start in weather like this. I shut it down after about...

What do you think of this Deuce? (pictures and starting video)

He said he parked the truck after using it in a parade. After about 2 months he went to use it again and said the brake pedal went straight to the floor. As for the ether, he said he uses it every time on the first "cold" start... that worries me a little bit... I think I will try to hold off...

What do you think of this Deuce? (pictures and starting video)

I went to look at this neat old Deuce today. It is a 1965 model. The owner is asking $2600. The owner used it as an off-road RV - he has converted the shop box on the back into an area that sleeps 4 with 2 bunks, and has a stove and a sink with pressurized water with a tank and pump stored...

Putting a Deuce to work for me?

Hope its OK to pull out the thread excavator and bring this one out of its grave... With the way the economy was/is heading I decided to stay in school. I'm currently working on getting my automotive degree at a local community college. Not sure what I'll do after these couple years...

    The deuce at work

I loved the driver just REEFING on the steering wheel... that was a really good video, thanks.

Putting a Deuce to work for me?

Yep, those little Yanmars are mean to be run pretty much half submerged in rice paddys. Every time I drive this thing it puts a smile on my face, its just a really neat little piece of equipment. I have a box blade, dirt scoop, 36" Howse bush hog, a 38" Muratori tiller, carryall, electric...

Putting a Deuce to work for me?

Thats good to hear, thanks. Right now whatever trailer I would choose I would make it so that I wouldn't go over 26k GCVWR. The M105 trailer would be cool for sure, but I don't think its rated to haul my Bobcat which weights about 5k. I will do a search on here to figure out how I would...

Putting a Deuce to work for me?

bottleworks - do you say that because of the weight of the Deuce or because of the trailer? I heard that something was passed last November that allowed the hauling of anything below a GCVWR of 26k without a CDL - but I'm not sure if that applies to me if I'm using it for a business or not...

Putting a Deuce to work for me?

Cool, I will check that out if I get one. I guess here is the last question - one member already touched on this, so hopefully some others can offer their opinions as well. Like I said - at the moment, its a trailer OR a deuce - not both. So the big question: Can I load my Bobcat and...
