    700r4 swap into a M1008

Won't most trucks already have the 208 t-case? would it be easier to use the donor t-case that is already mated to the tranny? I'm assuming that I would be getting the tranny from a diesel parts truck which really shouldn't be to hard to find. there was one if the local paper two weeks ago.

    700r4 swap into a M1008

Ok, I think I understand now - it would be better if the donor parts came from a diesel truck - that way it would have all of the appropriate pieces.

    sliding rear glass window

yes, I definitely wouldn't expect to get a new one shipped for $50, but figured some guy wouldn't mind taking $50 for one sitting in an old truck that's rotting in his field. Thanks for the links. I actually found one in a local junk yard for $60 which seems reasonable enough. I'll see if I...

    sliding rear glass window

wow, I must be super cheap. I was hoping for like $50 or less. I noticed a neighbor had a couple old chevy's yesterday and stopped to see if he wanted to sell the rear window and he wanted $150!! I thought that was outrageous. When I was young, seems like my dad always got used parts off...

    sliding rear glass window

Hey guys, do you know if its possible to put a sliding rear window in a m1028? If so, is there a source for these? Any rear window out of a similar aged chevy/gmc truck should work, right? Thanks!

    military vehicle ID help

yes, I should get a book - maybe I'll check our library - just in case. here are as much details as I can remember - although we drove by kind of fast - I would have turned around if I didn't have the family with me. It was a truck - with a truck bed with side boards - and it was loaded...

    military vehicle ID help

Hey guys, I don't know if this is the right place for this question, but I only have and know about the CUCV, so this is the only forum that I go on. Anyways, last week, on our way home from Christmas with my parents we saw the absolute coolest looking military vehicle ever (at least to me)...

consensus on trailer wiring / tail lights

Here, I'll add some direction to my question: I found this online: 1984 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup Trailer Wiring Harness | etrailer.com will this work? or are there voltage issues.

consensus on trailer wiring / tail lights

I did some searches and got the biggest spectrum of information imaginable. I want to add a 4 pin trailer plug to my m1028, and I mostly just want to know if the tail lights are 12v or 24v. When i did a search I found many people saying that you had to either wire to magnetic LED lights to...

can you leave the key in the ignition?

Super simple question. I live in the country on a forest service road, and am not worried about theft. I would like to leave the key to my m1028 in my ignition. Some vehicles will drain power from the battery if the key is in the ignition and I want to make sure this is not the case with...

    rusty wheel causing death wobble?

just an update, I couldn't get the kingpin springs or bushings at any of the autoparts stores in town, so I replaced the steering stabilizer and rotated the tires and made sure they all had equal air pressure. I took it for a little drive around and couldn't get it to start the death wobble...

    rusty wheel causing death wobble?

Hi all, I've had my m1028 for a few months now. Since I've had it, I could always feel a barely perceptible wobble in the steering wheel at about exactly 45mph. a couple weeks ago, going down the road at about 35, I hit a bump and it went into a death wobble. Since that time, it has...
