What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I wouldn't feel less of a man to ask help for this. Little nightmare in a box.

Heater in a can - Now you can have your turbo and heat it too!

Went through the Appalachians with a 5 ton this winter in freezing and snowing weather. The heat went in the cabin when going uphill with the engine heating up, sometimes even kicking on the fan. It was a relief when it did lol. In my deuce the heater is anemic or nonworking. Found that when...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Interesting. Anyway one could replace the 5 ton torque rods with solid socket types?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

“What have you done with THEIR 5 ton this week….” So, I am in a Guard unit of a branch that does not deal much in combat mode with trucks in general (hint) but my admin crew happens to be responsible/own for a FMTV in motor pool that has been neglected. Since they heard I had a truck they sent...

Bertha is apparently jealous of the attention I'm giving the M37.(Torque bar separation)

I would soak whatever new rubber you get with 303 protectant ( https://meanjoeclean.com/303-protectant-vs-meguiars-vs-armor-all/ ) to prevent disintegration of polymers long term. It works on belts and prevents cracking and dry rot. My question is if an FMTV dog bone system could replace it as...

Flip a switch to use gas?

No. That was when I was visting my family in indiana.

Flip a switch to use gas?

Gasoline is a thinner that will eat up seals or harden them too. I do not even put any in winter as some mix it in. In the M923 I put Kerosene with dieselfuel lube like Howes. This being said, when the engine is warm and restarted during a warmer day, the truck will make a puff of white smoke...

Flip a switch to use gas?

I started the deuce in gear after driving around the m923, forgot it was not automatic. Almost drove through my son in law's and daughter's house. That would have been a doozy, dad.

Flip a switch to use gas?

Interesting. I hear alcohol is about 120 octane. I once read in article (that I cannot find anymore) that 117 octane xylene or toluene was used to improve cetane in some additives, but I might have seen a mirage because that stuff is too dry. What you say makes sense about high octane being a...

Flip a switch to use gas?

I know. I often have those “former” new experts coming up to me and telling me how my truck runs. Drives me crazy sometimes.

Flip a switch to use gas?

Some guy at Walmart talking to me about my M35 and he be like “yeah I drove those trucks in the Army back in the days blabla….can use any fuel, just had to flip this switch if you ran on gas”. is there such a switch? Or is it a different engine?

Oil / Gas mix to fuel deuce

warning I used C130 turbine synthetic oil in my truck and it almost hydrolocked it. Synthetic does not breakdown and burn as easily and the exhaust was a toxic mist.. It did increase power due to increased-compression as there was less space in cylinder, but meh.

the multi-fuel engine on a Deuce

Warning: I tired to use jet airplane synthetic oil and it does not burn, can hydro lock engine . But it did increase compression ratio in small quantity and increased power. Not recommended at allthough

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

It's a workout alright. Glad when I got done with mine. I still have a few bugs here and there. The other day I went mudding and the following day the tire was losing air. I could not find a leak and reinflated it hammering around and it is now holding air, lost only 2lbs in 48 hours. Not sure...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

You might have to change again the filters since it might have cleaned parts of the tank and sent stuff to the filters. This is what a car mechanic told me about fuel system cleaners and boosters when my car was vapor locking in New Mexico at high altitude in summers. It works for a while and...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

My pressure brake lights switch went out. I ordered what seemed to be the last OEM part to replace it on the internet for $30. Local truck shop has some for 12V systems for $8. A switch is a switch so I left the $8 one on to see how it works out, if not I will put the $30 if it cooks up or if...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I use a motorcycle rolling stand to do this job but it is difficult to keep things straight in and out. It would be interesting to design a part to straighten the hub to the brakes.

    My first multifuel?

there's a scrap yard of deuces in Lake City, florida, with weeds like that all over them. I think it would be fun to take some time off to explore with a weed eater.

    Battery adapters printing

I would not 3d print this. too tedious. it seems simple enough to get a block and grind to dimensions with a mill.

    WANTED: 308 ar design help

That should not be too hard given all the 80% kits and 3D printing kids out there with CAD drawings already. There are some basic dimensions to keep so as to fit the internals and powering them. I have only a little experience with CAD, however I think the biggy in there is the mechanical...
