Picked up 6 MEP-802A gensets and will be documenting making them all runners here

I am not knowledgeable about the 804-806s it might apply to those as well? The upgrade is definitely for 802/812/803/813 generators,(chapter 5.1, May 2009 version of TB-11-6115-741-24) Maybe we are looking at different TBs, there is a July 2007 version too? See this thread for more info and a...

Picked up 6 MEP-802A gensets and will be documenting making them all runners here

Before you start the genset up be sure it has the fuse upgrade installed on the quad winding circuit as per TB 11-6115-741-24. Mine did not and I presume that is why it was sold. The 802a I am working on looks like the engine starter is new, so I presume there was an engine issue at one time...

Picked up 6 MEP-802A gensets and will be documenting making them all runners here

Peter, thanks for documenting your work so well. It helps us lurkers that are working on our own 802s in the shadows. I hope you don't have the same issues I am having, shot regulator and stator quad winding= no bueno on the voltage production. That is the bad news, the good news is that some of...

MEP-802a Low Voltage and Quad Winding Help?

I picked up an 802a and have 60 hz but only about 20 volts output. It will make 120 volts if the master switch is held in the start position, but drops back down to 20 volts in the run position. The genset did not have the quad winding fuse modification, but does now. The some of the diodes in...

    fuel pump part number 802a/803a

See if this is what you need. 7.13.4.1 On 5 & 10 kW TQG’s, replace the main fuel pump with an Airtex Products P/N E1074 (round body) pump unless an Airtex Products P/N E1074 pump is already installed. Until a source of supply of the Airtex pump is on- line, replace the main fuel pump with a new...

    MEP-802a not charging

Your voltage is too low, it should be between 27.5 and 29.5 volts per the manual. My 802 charges at 28.v.

mep-802a -- brought back to life!

That is what I was thinking too, everything else except the 7/8 terminals on VR seem to test oK. I get like 2 v instead of 65-85v per the tech manual. Your previous posts on this issue were very helpful, thanks. The 802 will make 120/240 when the master switch is held in start but only 25 v in...

mep-802a -- brought back to life!

Glad you got one going. Do you plan on parting any of the Crane gensets out? I have an 802 I am working on (fried diodes in the AV1 quad winding circuit), it did not have the fuse upgrade on the regulator The genset makes 60 HZ but only 25V. I hope the parts I got from Mike in Indiana fix my...

    MEP-802A Injector Pump Leak

I have a leak at one of the fuel injectors (not the pump), the lister parts diagram shows a washer which I assume needs replaced Does anyone have experience with these? Anything special to be aware of if i remove the one leaking injectors to replace the washer if that is the problem? Thanks.

    FINALLY landed my MEP-003a!!!

Congrats, I just got an MEP-802A, the engine runs great but no power unless you hold the start switch on. I enjoy puzzles and want to learn more about electricity, diodes, relays, etc. These gensets fit the bill on both accounts in that they are many times an electrical puzzle. The cool thing is...

MEP-802A Totally Dead 24 V, Help me I must be stupid??

Ok I am not stupid, just a newbie. All the control cables under the control panel were unhooked. The genset fired right up and runs nicely, now to track down the short, and the saga continues...............

MEP-802A Totally Dead 24 V, Help me I must be stupid??

Ok, I purchased an MEP-802a from GL. It had clean fuel, filters and looks really nice. I did all the normal pre-start maintenance, cleaned the fuel tank, new filters, put in new batteries, yada yada.., . The issue is I don't have any 24V power to anything, no fuel pump, no power to the panel or...

    MEP-802A Batteries

There is a previous post that says size 51R batteries fit. Another poster said buy the cheapest Walmart batteries, that was wrong! The cheapest Walmart batteries were size 26 and they do not fit. So I am back to the store to exchange the size 26 for the correct size 51. They cost an extra $40...

    MEP-802A Resilient Mount

I just got a MEP-802A through GL, it is a nice unit and was turned in as excess Nation Guard inventory. I am still going through it but it turns over easily, fuel tank and filters are clean but will be replaced anyway. The issue is the gen head resilient mounts are shot. They are the puck style...
