Good source for auxiliary fuel hose & fittings?

That length of hose that comes standard isn't ideal for every setup. I would prefer a shorter hose on mine but as long as it isn't leaking I will use what came with my set. Having the bung adapter worked out great for me though. If you really want to furnish a complete set you would want to...

Our first real outage with the 803A

That aux tank does make a sweet setup on your trailer. I didn't mean to step on Haoleb's thread. I agree, if you have a quality 1800 rpm PTO generator and a tractor with the right power to run it would be no problem. My tractor is too small to run the cheap 3600 rpm type. If I had a...

Our first real outage with the 803A

That's a really nice set you have! Glad it is working out for you. I joined and began my search shortly after Hermine left us without power for a week. I didn't fair too bad because I found a PTO generator in a nearby town. I thought that would be the way to go but turns out my little tractor...

    Just picked up an MEP-803a

My approach on the missing S1 switch would be a couple of on/off toggle switches and a couple of momentary switches if I had room to mount them. Label each switch and you should be good to go.

    Just picked up an MEP-803a

What I found trying to use the group 34/78 in a standard lead acid battery is they hit the unused engine mount tab. Supposedly you can pull the battery off the tab with the tie down. The Optima battery may clear the tab in the indentations of it's design. I used a value power group 26 battery...

MEP803a looses all compression. Lifter Problem?

I've never heard of any engine having a vacuum under normal circumstances. They will produce some pressure from combustion gases getting by the rings into the crankcase. How much depends on the condition of the rings. Zero to slight pressure should cause no concern. Some race engines will have...

MEP803a looses all compression. Lifter Problem?

What is your oil pressure reading? The tip off on this machine was high oil pressure.

    Tarp for generator trailer

Tractor Supply sells a few canvas tarps. They are all rectangular but folded and strapped it should offer more protection than a worn out custom fit tarp. Prices range from $35 to $160. They are all tan colored canvas.

    Frequency meter replacement

All you have to do for the digital is connect it to the voltage source. It won't need the transducer.

    My MEP-803A

As stated you should load test the unit before connecting to the house. If your cable plugged in to your old generator with a NEMA 14-50 male plug then the easiest way is to get a Temporary RV outlet and mount it on the side of the generator. Using 6 gauge wire connect L1 and L3 to the hot...

    Generators in Puerto Rico

I was wondering if this was driving the high auction prices.

    803 Fuel Gauge

This and also on the gauge. On mine I discovered the ground was daisy chained from one gauge to the next. A loose or dirty ground at one gauge strap could cause multiple gauge malfunctions. Care also has to be taken not to over tighten the nut on the power post. Doing so can cause it to ground...

    803 Fuel Gauge

These gauges seem to park wherever they are when you shut the unit down.

    Secure MEP803A

I would consider a metal cage anchored to the pad.

    MEP803A oil capacity

The TM reads 5.9 qts but doesn't specify with or without oil filter. I need to drain mine and refill to the proper level. It supposedly arrived empty I think but I can't remember if I opened the drain cock to check it. I put a new filter and a 5qt jug of 15w40 in and it reads a quart over filled.

2 wire autostart kit for MEP 002/003 and MEP 802/803's

I wouldn't think they would mind someone promoting the web site. Good job on the auto start install. I have one of those motorcycle alarm/remote start kits ordered to try when and if it gets here from across the pond.

    MEP803 Newbie, need advice

On the fuse mod I used a $4 inline fuse holder from the auto parts store and put a AGC 3 amp fast acting fuse in it. kloppk sent me a MOV and I added that as well. Haven't had any problems in almost a year of use with 40+ hours of operation so I assume my cheap substitute is adequate.

    MEP803 Newbie, need advice

The Gates fuel hose I suggested earlier is rated for use as a diesel fuel return line. In fact it is claimed to be submersible and for use all the way to E85 gas. Time will tell but I would hazard to guess it is far superior to the cloth covered original fuel hose.

    MEP803 Newbie, need advice

Not to spoil your efforts but at the end of the day you will have the same rotten crap that came on it and doesn't hold up well. Don't be afraid to use non stock stuff. I want my unit to be as reliable as possible so originality means nothing to me.
