    transmission control module replacement

My transmission doesn't shift well, and after eliminating everything else I can think of I feel the TCM is just garbage. I had the transmission rebuilt, new OEM throttle position sensor, and zero reason to believe the RPM sensor is bad. Aren't the only things not IN the transmission the TPS, rpm...

A/C valve replacement, need cold air please!

I wasn't finding anything useful on YouTube and searches on here did not help much either. While I have fairly decent mechanic skills and a few good tools, I am pretty clueless when it comes to A/C systems on cars (successfully replaced capacitor on home A/C before! haha). I need help. When I...

    options for unarmored body holes

Did a couple searches and nothing immediately came up on this. After side armor is removed during demil the body is left with holes. A couple have a nut/threaded backing, most just the aluminum body drilled out. What are some things you guys have done for a better cosmetic effect?

Spindle nuts 2 for 8 tabs ok?

I took off my spindle nut cover and it has 4 groups of 2 slots on the nut, so 8 total slots. I only have tabs bent into 1 group (2 slots) of the 8 total slots. Just to be clear, this is proper correct? I have attached pictures. What should I use for the gasket maker? Conventional gear oil fine...

US Shift Quick 2 and 4 installation

Has anyone used a US Shift Quick 2 in their HMMWV? If you tried the Quick 4 did you actually use a custom tune or stick to the diesel tune? How hard are these to connect? Where did you run the wires up? Did you remove the factory TCM after installation? For reference, the Quick 2 is still for...

    Glow plug issue engine hot

After replacing the glow plugs (4 were bad) the engine starts amazingly easy when cold. The "wait" light stays on about 10 seconds when cold, everytime. If the engine is not fully cooled down (say I drove it an hour prior) the wait light stays on about 1/4 of a second (i.e. a quick flash) and...

Hard doors vs. soft doors opinions

Wanted to get opinions when faced with the choice between soft and hard X-doors for 4-man M1151A1. Which one do you prefer? I have heard people like the soft because can remove easily and, of course, much cheaper. I have heard neither keeps rain out much. Can soft doors be painted or will it...

    water in engine

Fun times. I have been working outside on the engine and had the air intake tube off. I put the hood down last night when finished working. It rained overnight. I noticed water collected in the pipe going into the turbo. I stuck a shop vac in the hole and sucked up all visible water. I...

    Rack in between front seats

Anyone know what this rack was used for? In between front seats, typically the radio box location. M1151A1.

    My 4L80E trouble codes

I just ran diagnostics on my 4L80E Four codes: 22, 85, 86, and 87 22: Throttle Position Low 85: Undefined Ratio 86: Low Ratio 87: High Ratio HMMWV will slip going up hills and occasionally go into limp mode (gears 1 & 2). ATF is red but was low when I bought it, so I added Dexron VI. Tested...

    First post M1151A1

I have been checking out some helpful posts on the forums and decided to join. I purchased a M1151A1 from GovPlanet and picked it up last month. I have been working on it, little by little, ever since. It was full of bolts and shell casings when I got it. Found a 40mm grenade base. Got the...
