Registered and insured. Heading up tomorrow with all kinds of stuff. Binging 404 brake rebuild videos. Might get to drive home.
The prior owner located two spare tires, and the crane.
I've told a few good friends. All of them married. All of them scolded me, severely, for making such a dumb move. Money pit, won't really use it, whats a UNIMOG, etc etc. What I hear is:
" You butt head. no wife to tell you no. can I ride in it? and do we get to hunt some zombies?"
HA HA...
After many years of desire. After searching the internet high and low, and even looking around my home town a good bit, and faithfully sticking to my FCOS (Facebilk Conscientious Objector Status) I found her right here under my nose the whole time! Waiving to me from Unimog.net.
I just bought...
Welp, it's a done deal. I'm a proud owner of a Unimog! I've called Dawsons and currently have them scheduled for next Wednesday, they quoted $250 an hour so I'm thinking that's not too bad. Not done researching still en route from Brant Lake.
That's a good idea about the axle. Eric, thank you...
Only 67 miles, all 4 lane highway. I'm getting quotes like $1200, $1500 which just strikes me as high, but what do I know.
It's a 1968 404 with a radio box. Runs no brakes. Height is 9'6" due to extra rack on top. I will hopefully own this by about 6PM, and then I'll need to move it ASAP...
Fast fwd to 2024
1987 FLU, no tools, needs all hoses/seals, doesn't run, need master cylinder, rusty driver door, pass door hinge pins need welding, as well as rear axle bracket. Mouse chewed wires. Bad tires all around, hasn't run in over a year.
(edit)**77 hours on the engine per meter**...
The body syle of that cab, especially with cargo bows behind it, is what I love. With good ole NDT's the cab and fenders and bumper with the big meaty ole hooks on the top look like a beast designed in hell to eat you. Add a winch and it will drag your guts out first. I just love the trucks...
I know this is an old thread, can't help but wonder what happened to the truck?? I see a G506 with an original bed on it. Im kind of obsessed with the WW2 chevy trucks. I found the thread searching for info on anyone who has done a G506 swap with a 6BT engine, because I am considering buying a...
Just searching the web for CCKW info and this came up. The ad says it came off a CCKW truck. No idea if true, but if so it might be a cool (and useful) addition to someone's resto. Price seems about what a brand new one would cost at Hawbo Fright...
Roger that. Thank you. That's exactly what I was looking for. That's good advice too I gotta keep my yap shut and let them collect some money.
I love Cooperstown. Last summer me and another guy from where I work were sent to work on the Glimmerglass Queen, a dinner cruise charter boat owned...
I loved him so much, and he was so much WORK. It was like having a dangerous mental patient for a teenage son. I was proud of him, and he was all dog. Everything a dog could do to be canine, he excelled at. Barking, pooping, shedding, biting strangers. He did it all, but never when I wanted him to.
Yes that's Nanook. He was the best and doggiest dog I've ever had. Sadly, he died a few years ago. He cured me of ever wanting a dog again, though sometimes I still do.
Thanks for the warm welcome! I was born in Indiana, grew up in Crawfordsville. Cherry valley's only 45 mins west of me, and I drive through there all the time in the summer, because of Glimmerglass State Park and Otsego Lake and Cooperstown. We are practically kin.
Does anyone happen to know...
