    Bobbed 5 ton beware

It would be important with one rear axle to consider the tires' weight rating when calculating the capacity of the vehicle.....

    Lugs OVERTIGHTENED

Ol-Paint: NICE Thanks very much!:D There is nothing like following the manual. Knowing our government and military, I am confident that the torque spec given earlier is based upon exhaustive research.

    Lugs OVERTIGHTENED

I'm pretty sure (and expect to be corrected here if wrong) that regular bolts for common application should be torqued dry unless otherwise specified, because the torque value is based upon bolt stretch. However, lug nuts are a combination of bolt stretch, and more critically, the friction at...

How do you change a tire

Bad idea to slam anything with an edge into the side of a rubber tire??? Proper tools save lives.

Mother and child killed by military truck

Some clarifications: 1) The unidentified (here, anyways) driver who caused the young woman in the small car to stop suddenly is the initial cause of the whole thing, however the SUV driver failed to maintain safe distance and is the major cause of the two collisions. Driving is not something...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

2,700 miles from my house to Watson Lake, Yukon. Four 12-hour days to get there; $900 in fuel based on 10 mpg, $3.20/gal diesel. I can see it now: "Hey wifey, I'm gonna go on a little road trip. Be back in about 3 weeks, and I'm only gonna spend about $2,500!!"...

Pics of Trip to Jack's Gov Surplus

LOL! I was weaving eyes into the 1 1/4" manila rope I got for a tow rope for my WWII Dodge and a friend started laughing. I said what?? He said if I had a boat it wouldn't be a ski boat or a yacht, it would be an ex-Navy tug!!!:p BTW, I used to work at the station pictured in your avatar...

    24 volt beacon

AWESOME set of links! THANKS!! And THANKS to all the other guys with their links. It's now a tough decision to make as to which model and supplier to use. I like Saturn since it's mil surplus, but I also think the LED units are pretty good.

    24 volt beacon

Hadn't thought about it- I'll call the highway patrol tomorrow. But if you'd seen how even the big rigs ride up on my a$$aua, you'd see why I'm willing to risk a ticket. Once I started using the rotating beacon on my WWII truck, it opened up the spacing by at least three car lengths. It gets me...

    24 volt beacon

Hi All: I have found when driving my WWII Dodge that a yellow rotating caution beacon (like the ones used on construction trucks) mounted to the back of the truck makes a HUGE difference in not being tail-gated (even the semis stopped doing it). Are these available in 24 volt? Or better yet...

    neighbor problems

Just try to keep your cool, don't make extra noise BUT don't do anything where they think they can push you around like "hiding" the truck from view. Whatever you do, don't let them see you spill anything like fuel, oil, or coolant on the ground! -Ken J
