School me on Cat ET kits

Correct. It has the A1R and the A1P2 which really helps with A1R information because the A1P2 shares the C7 and later Allison. The military doesn't call them A1R - they just call it an A1 with a serial number above 100,000 User friendly..... I mean it's designed for soldiers to use..... There's...

School me on Cat ET kits

Yeah the DPA 3/4/5 is a good J1939 interface adapter. The military used them in the STE-ICE kits and they are still in the system available to order for unit level diagnostics. That's just part of what the military laptops do though. They also have all the (gigabytes of) manuals integrated...

School me on Cat ET kits

I build MSD V4 laptops for our trucks if you are interested. I have a black SWICE kit available at the moment. Black SWICE kit and Dell 7214 with all manuals, CAT ET, etc is about $2500. These will not only communicate with the truck but with the electronic manuals it will walk you through the...

    Alternator 12 and 24 volt

There isn't much point. You could (I think, in theory.....) re-wire the truck to run 100% 24v since all the lighting that was 12v to "take advantage of commercially available parts" has now been replaced with 10-30v LED's that could care less. And the existing wiring is oversized for 24v being...

    Alternator 12 and 24 volt

It can be done, but requires consideration of the balancing - the CUCV did this correctly in the 80's. You use two 12v isolated ground alternators - one for each battery. The CUCV's Delco 12si isolated ground 100A alternators were paired either with a pair of 6T's or a pair of group 31's. This...

    Dearborn adapter woes

Alternatively - The Dell 7214 rugged laptops that the military currently uses for the MSD-V4 are rather inexpensive used and they have hardware serial ports. Excellent diagnostic laptop to keep in your truck and pair with a STE-ICE test kit.

    Air dryer venting oil

Should be feeding air from the charge pipe / manifold so the compressor gets the advantage of turbocharger boost pressure on it's inlet - turbocharger acts as a first stage air compressor and the piston compressor benefits from intercooled charge air...... Some small amount of oil is normal...

    LMTV Temp Sensors

A1+ trucks are computer controlled. The engine control module (ECM) controls fan operation. The ECM has quite a few sensors - which engine do you have? 3126b or C7?

    Cab Seat Mount Measurements?

There aren't any. You will have to custom make adapters to whatever seats you desire. Even the A1P2 Mastercraft seats aren't a bolt in. You also need a very low profile seat to start with unless you are fairly short.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

In the neighborhood of 10. Depends on how fast you drive.

    Dearborn adapter woes

USB to serial adapters are notoriously difficult to make work for some applications expecting a hardware serial port.. Best to use a laptop with a built in serial port.

    Multiple LMTV Questions...

    1) Not if it's an A0 truck with the 3116. Those trucks have a hand throttle. You have one or the other. Never both. 2) Have you done a dryer service? Also these compressors like to eat exhaust valve springs. Rebuild the cylinder head before it ingests half of a valve disc and punches a hole in...

    M1078A1P2 CTIS Problem

Well he is working on an A1P2 truck and they do make running changes to these things. Probably something Oshkosh added to try to save the CTIS hub seals would be my guess. I know my right front CTIS hub seal was leaking gear oil into the CTIS and judging by the rust and particulate in the PCU -...

Bad storm breaks everything...Low Power/Engine shutdown

I'm assuming 3126b from your avatar picture (grill) and check engine light. As mentioned the 3126b has tendency toward some oil pump issues. @Lostchain has a 2003 with ~6,500 miles on it. His oil pressure idiot light would come on when idling on hot days. We changed his oil pump and his...

    A1R brake pedal valve up(down)grade.

For the moment it's just tucked into the pocket in the cab behind where the bracket was located. I'll probably just use adhesive cable tie mounts. It's a lightweight plastic module. Doesn't really need much.

    M1078A1P2 CTIS Problem

Rebuild the PCU. It's probably filthy and sticking. Unless the PCU commands the system by sending air to the QRV's it won't dump air. Sounds like it's not closing properly and it's sending air pressure to the QRV's and causing it to dump and then trying to re-inflate and the cycle repeats. The...

    LMTV CTIS UPGRADE

National Stock Number (NSN), or National Item Identification Number (NIIN) are the government part numbers that are issued to make the parts available in the system to the military branches and government agencies.

    LMTV CTIS UPGRADE

Will there be an NSN for this kit as well? Is there a part number for the diaphragm by itself?

    AGM and LiFePO4?

DONT DO THAT! AGM's are capable of pulling a LOT more charging amps. The switch to AGM's was part of the problem the military had with the later 100A trucks. The 100A alternator was really too small for the 6TL wet cell battery bank, and AGM's just make this MUCH worse. The 100A was not designed...
  20. G

    AGM and LiFePO4?

Don't do that. For a lot of reasons - balance, chemistry, etc. Reduce the truck batteries to two group 31's (wet cell's, not AGM) if you have the 100A alternator to avoid killing it. Use of AGM's or even the quad 6TL's is really overloading that poor little alternator and asking for problems...
