you'll probably want to ask them about it, before you hand over any paperwork. Sometimes the people behind the counter have no clue at all, and will either try to modify your paperwork, or refuse to give it back to you.
Washington State sent out a letter a few years back telling licensing offices not to process military vehicles unless they had proof of an FMVSS decal on them.
Nothing in the laws actually says they can't, it's just some bureaucrat at the state level trying to flex their muscles or something.
It...
Am I missing something about how these trucks electrical system work?
It was my understanding that the 12V to the TCM was operated by a relay powered by the 24V system.
With the 24V system disconnected, wouldn't that also mean that the 12V system can't be operated either?
Or does the 12V...
no upgrades, as the M1123 already has the upgraded version.
From the video, no idea if the CV is actually bad. Most likely it's still okay, and it's just the 6 bolts that need replaced. Some were obviously missing, which adds stress to the remaining ones, causing them to break.
Should be...
You want to be able to tow a heavy, high wind load at high speeds...
I'll second the "you need to find a different vehicle.
HMMWV with it's independent rear suspension is going to get pushed around more by a trailer than in a solid rear axle civilian truck.
For reference though, my M1123 4...
is it an A2 variant or an ECV truck?
According to the manuals, an A2/M1123 truck (non turbo 6.5 with 2.73 gearing) has a sustained top speed of 78mph.
An ECV/REV truck with turbo 6.5 and 3.08 gearing has a top sustained speed of 70mph.
Early trucks with the 3 speed transmission had a sustained...
transfer case is possible though not likely.
Most commonly when we see someone post about only being able to move in HL it's a failed half shaft/CV joint. Not uncommon for the bolts holding the shaft to the differential flange/brake rotor to back out and shear off.
I've only heard of a...
After charging the battery to full, let it sit for a few days to a week before doing anything else to it.
Then check for voltage, and if voltage is good, do another load test.
My guess is you will find that the battery, while it will charge up and pass a load test immediately after charging...
Diesel vapors are nowhere near as volatile as gasoline vapors are, so the risk of explosion is almost non-existent for just having the little sparks created by a brush type motor and the few vapors being released from unheated diesel fuel.
I would definitely NOT recommend this method for a...
On slightly related note, I had the idler pulley on my belt tensioner fail today while driving. (after reading previous post where I talk about a replacement tensioner, I ended up selling the one pictured above to another member on here and last I heard it was doing fine, so this post is about...
Personally for battery connections I prefer noalox. It keeps out the air/oxygen to prevent corrosion, and the zinc in it can help improve electrical connections. The zinc also acts as a sacrificial anode if an electrolyte of some type does manage to get into the connection.
true, but it can always be loadbanked to blow out the carbon buildup.
Plus having the 831 that can be hooked up instead for light loads if the season doesn't demand additional power
Still better though than going to the 30kw generators and only pulling off one leg.
I suppose a DRASH or HDT gen...
I can see where the convenience of already having a large supply of fuel would make the diesel gen more attractive.
Looking through the forums, it DOES look like the MEP-004 15kw gen can be reconfigured from 3 phase to single phase and have full output, so that might be the best option for you...
Do you have an industrial hydraulics shop nearby? Might be easiest to go in and talk with them. I know the shops near me can make pretty much anything to do with fuel tanks and fittings like this.
The 831 is an inverter type generator, so yes, it should have clean power.
All the larger generators (00X, 80X series) are mechanical governors. They have a lot of rotating mass, but a heavy load can still cause power fluctuations, just like any civilian generator.
I'm trying to say just...
I'll second AM General. One of the guys here had one show up cracked in the box (out of 6) but I haven't had that issue. This was a couple years ago, so who knows if they still use the same packaging
fix a flat is a temporary repair.
I've had good luck with garden tractor tires using tire slime (50 year old tires with lots of cracking)
Once they start cracking the sidewalls though, they shouldn't be run on road. Too much risk/liability.
Are you trying to say that the rear brace won't physically move the 3/8" or so at the top where the generator mounts in order to be positioned behind the mounting tab on the generator?
Have you verified that there is nothing physically interfering with the brace as it angles down to the bolt...
