External tank / aux pickup for 2" NPT?

I have a 200 gallon tank with 2" NPT fittings on the top that I want to use with the aux fuel pump built into an MEP-1040. I've seen some of the original jerry can adapters that use threaded copper tubing as pickup tubes. I understand the fitting on the machine is a bit of an odd-ball -5AN so was planning to use -06 3/8" hose from the tank to the generator with an adapter but haven't found any fittings or adapters on the tank side yet. Before re-inventing the wheel was hoping some folks here might have some answers to help me out.

Any ideas / suggestions? Thanks!

-5AN is a good cross to 5/16JIC... very common cross. You can probably find an adapter to jump right at the spout to the size you want for your fuel line. And if you need a pickup assembly I have a number of them listed in the classifieds here.

On the tank side, assuming you're going into the 2" npt on top, you might try looking for a "heating oil tank pickup tube". Or you could build your own with parts from a local plumbing store.

So you're trying to build a dip tube to fit into an 2" NPT bung and convert to -5AN / 5/16" JIC?
Get yourself a duplex bung adapter https://www.supplyhouse.com/Beckett...w8TdqtCT0mOFFBEMC8tVJrgH6YytCp2IaAp5bEALw_wcB
Then you can thread a dip tube into the back side and get a 5/16" X 3/8" NPT thread adapter to screw into the top for your line.
I've also used copper tube and an NPT compression fitting to make the dip tube as well.

This is the fitting I needed - thanks!

Appreciate all the suggestions.

I made something for the 6 gallon cans I have. I basically have an an to npt adapter in a bushing, then i threaded a fitting to the internal diameter with a dip tube. Took some slight machining and a weld

This is what I ended up with and just need to trim the pickup tube for the tank height. I found a double tapped 2" x 1/2" reducer at a local supply house and had it powder coated. The adapters are a 1/2" NPT to -05 JIC and a generic 1/2" x 1/4" reducer. The pickup tube came from Mcmaster Carr and is 36" schedule 40 brass threaded with 1/4" NPT on both ends. Didn't realize it at the time but it's the same threads as the military bung adapter and tubes. They offer in lots of different lengths so good if you don't have originals or doing a custom setup like this. Thanks for all the advice - Merry Christmas.
