Yeah - one of these days I should make a complete post on that. I've posted it in other threads, but not made a post about the process. I should have taken more pics but I was pretty flustered about the compressor failure and just wanted to get my new toy back together (compressor blew up during...
It's certainly worth a look under there with it running since it costs nothing. I would also be very curious to look at the scope traces of the IACV. And to inspect the inside of the HEUI oil supply hose - being that hose is 23 years old - if those have a propensity to shed inner lining that...
Don't believe there are any lines except the single line from the pump to the head. All the injectors are fed oil through drilled passages in the cylinder head I'm pretty sure. I didn't notice any lines when I changed my injector wiring harness anyway......
We can put an oscilloscope on the control wires to the IACV and compare to the percentage listed in CAT ET and see if the signal is stable or dropping out, etc. That would be very straightforward with my PICO Scope. Same for the pressure sensor. Conceptually it's possible for the ECM driver to...
Keep the manual disconnect - it's very convenient for working on the truck. And keep the NATO slave receptacle. And for that matter keep the front glad hands. Everyone likes to delete this stuff but it makes jump starting and recovery a PITA for the rest of our community. It's pretty often that...
The supply filter comes with the HEUI pump and injector kit for the C7. Indeed I had to scour the Internet just to find the part numbers to install the filter kit on my C7 because CAT doesn't sell a "kit" for just the filter if you want to install it preventatively - probably because...
As to the filter - it's a filter for the HEUI pump oil *supply* and the official CAT setup is only for the C7. They did not create one that I'm aware of for the 3126. There is an aftermarket supplier that makes a filter that goes between the pump and the injectors which prevents a HEUI pump...
Well damn.
Adept Ape mentions them jumping around like that and says that means the HEUI pump is going.
You could send out an oil analysis sample and try to read those tea leaves.
I wouldn't screw around at this point. I would get a HEUI pump and injector kit from CAT. As much as that...
Just an update on this. I've got about 400 miles on the new/old WABCO pedal valve (rebuilt it prior to install) and it works GREAT. Honestly it has totally changed the confidence level I have in the brakes. They went from kinda scary at high speed (can do 80+ MPH with the ECO Hubs), to VERY...
Yes there is an engine block to frame ground near the starter IIRC.
The chassis to cab cable is behind the grill on the passenger side. The chassis side of the cable is unreachable.... you will see. I haven't had an issue with it yet but my plan is to simply add a second braided ground strap...
I agree this is the *best* method but also feel I should point out that the CTIS harness removal and installation requires that you pull the HVAC/Heater box out since the harness routes behind it. Also not every truck has the same harness since the option pins that set the module's pressure...
Prime example of why it is imperative to clean every connection.
That is VERY LIKELY factory. I've run into a severe voltage drop between the cab and the chassis on a 2021 A1P2 due to excessive paint under the cab to chassis ground strap. You are starting to see the situation you are dealing with.
There's two so the system can drain when it's not on a level surface.
Rather than make it more complex than it needs to be - why not reach out to Red Dot first and ask them?
You are absolutely correct. Appearance means nothing. The military will not mount anything over 7 years old and will not run anything over 10 years old except as a spare and even then it will be slated for replacement as soon as is practicable.
Perhaps. You might call Red Dot and see if they have some and would sell smaller quantities. They are in WA state and pretty helpful from what I have heard.

Red Dot #RD-5-1194-0M
I would call Red Dot. They have been the only supplier to the military for that particular part since it was assigned a NIIN in 1999. Guessing they have them specially made for their specific application because I can't find anything like it in the...
IDK - my experience with "Delco" in my GM travels is that once they stop using the stuff in high volume new manufacturing and for warranty and service replacements, the major (quality) manufacturers stop producing the parts and Delco will then "fill out" their catalog with Chinese crap. Lots of...
