Just another think for us to envy about your 8x8, and to learn from for our rides... :)
One of the "fixes" that gets posted often on the M37 and M38 forums for faulty fuel guages is to establish a new ground line for the tank sender by sliding a new lead under one of the mouting screws.
I heard someone at a Power Wagon rally once tell another person that they should "put some grease in the hub" in order to prevent rusting... With directions like that (instead of specifying a thin film) it's not hard to think that someone might have thought that they were supposed to pack the...
I don't have any experience with the M211...howerver, on the M37, it is common practice to smear some grease on the inside of the hub between the two bearing races in order to prevent the inside of the hub from rusting... It's not packed with grease, just a thin coating...
I worked on a highway widening project (US17 in Jacksonville, NC) once and we had a constant parade of brand new Oshkosh's running through the workzone sporting "student driver" signs... A little unnerving when you are standing in the road (with reduced lane widths) and you realize that the...
Bill Watson's method of checking timing/adjusting timing can be found on his website in the motor pool section.

Re: RE: Painting leafsprings anyone???
Don't paint them with POR or similar products. The material is too brittle for this application and will pop off when the springs slide... Just use a decent "regular" primer that matches your paint (it's still chip and crack at the leaf interfaces, but...
The OSHA guys who are next door to my shop would skin me if I tried that... :)
They really want to see things positively blocked/locked out when you are under them...
It's the generic M-series solid state flasher unit. It'll work on the five ton as well as the M35... :)
The brake light switch on the M812 is mounted on the frame rail if my memory serves, and has two wires on it. Sounds like you are looking at the correct part from your description. The...
I don't have a spare set, but last time I purchased a set (about two years, to be honest), White Owl had them for a price that I thought was "cheap". You might try them... Good luck.
Hmm. A deuce will cary a jeep in the bed without any problems. Gets about 10mpg unladen. Multifuel easy to work on (and consumables are fairly innexpensive). Doesn't come stock with power steering, but you can add that ($$). Large enough to be able to recover a 5/4 or smaller MV without...
RE: I understand your concerns about HQ staff....
-Charles Varner, who is now the VP, is not running for re-election, so he is gone from the BOD.
-Al Nickolson who is now the President, will probably not be re-elected President so he will not be as much of an influence.
-Lee Holland is not...
I've noticed a bunch of trucks going up for GL auction now and again that stated in the description that they were "Residue, no SF97 will be issued"... In a couple of cases, the truck looked like it had been dropped on its nose from a vast height... I figured that they thought that anyone...
RE: Re: RE: NHC250 starter lock-out switch
Better location diagram showing the starter lockout switch is located in TM 9-2320-260-34-1 on page 7-11 in the section 7-3. FRONT WIRING HARNESS REPLACEMENT... It should be pretty easy to find since it is the unit affixed to the t-fitting on the...
The one I am looking at with the engine tear down and rebuild data (including that for the PT pump and the injectors is the 1994 version of ARMY TM 9-2320-260-34-1 TECHNICAL MANUAL VOLUME 1 OF 2, DIRECT SUPPORT AND GENERAL SUPPORT MAINTENANCE FOR 5-TON, 6X6, M809 SERIES TRUCKS (DIESEL)
Volume...
Standard Budd socket for the lugnuts. The little screws that hold the box over the wiring are best ground and drilled in my experience as they are only sheet metal screws (but when they get rusted, you're stuck so replace them with stainless...).
Hubs, brake shoes, seals, bearings, drums...
Yeah, and now that the auction is over I keep thinking that the wheels look at lot like the ones on my five ton tag trailer (that will be hitched behind the M817 soon).
I am working on getting the big dump to haul the little dump up to Aberdeen so that they can meet your medium size dump so...
RE: wheels
The phone number I have for Bob Kelly is also no longer in service. I did hear through the grapevine that he is alive and well though... (A buddy mentioned seeing him on a trial in Telico...).
