I called up my local electronics supply and the only keyed on/off switches they could supply was 10Amps at best. It just seems far fetched that something as "old" as the original master switch would actually be able to handle 20 amps of sustained drain going through it without burning out. But...
Well I plan on getting away with the starter button and implimenting a regular keyed ignition switch. But that ignition switch still relies on the Master switch being turned on, otherwise the engine wont crank since it has no power. So i planned of adding an locked "master switch" as an...
I wouldn't think the limited power of an M35 etc would actually exhibit that much in effect of torque steer with its big wheels etc. I mean I can clearly see it and feel it if I go full on the throttle on my VW Passat with 140 HP. But again that would be as comparing apples to oranges, due to...
Fellow SS'ers :)
I am in the process of looking for a way to "lock down" the master switch. Lock down in such a way that no matter if you switch it on or off nothing electrical gets powered on, until the keyswitch I am going to install is turned to the right position.
ie like this
Master...
I will search for it and subscribe to it, because that angle sounds interesting

Ideally I would be going for a 35A2 since I would like to get an multifuel engine, as well as appreciating the aesthetics of the dual boogies, over super singles. I did consider the camber/shelter idea but...
I was under the impressing that the air transfer case ONLY engaged the front axle, but didnt actually lock the axle making both front wheels turn at the same speed. I mean you can engage the two front wheels sure, but for the 2 front wheels to rotate at the exact same speed and achieve that...
Why is it that people/truckers only chain up on one axle. I mean I have watched shows like Highway from ****, and the truckers only chain up one axle, so their other axle just sits there spinning. I thought the plan or idea was to effectively chain up all you active or semiactive driving axles...
What about the age old suggestion of sticking a magnet to side/bottom of the oil sump to pickup any all splints of metal etc?. If you remove the magnet the metal splinters would drain out with the oil but would still enable you to see that there was something wrong with the engine as you are not...
hornetfan, I just thought that perhaps a more modern and contemporate MF engine could serve as a viable upgrade for a Mxxx truck, provided you could make it fit inside the engine compartment. I mean at least some of the vehicles used by the US army etc are still multifuel, and no I am even going...
I was under the impression that the LDS engines was Supercharged, as in an actual supercharger. While the LDT models were Turbocharged. But according to some of the comments I read here it seems like that both the LDS and the LDT's were turbocharged, or?.
But wouldn't a path to "higher" power...
Hey fellow steel soldiers,
I know this subject has been asked and discussed a number of times but I haven't been able to find any single thread that actually dealt with keyed ignition starting in the manner that I would be looking to achieve.... if possible.
When I land myself an M35 I plan...
Do you put one of the locking handles on either side of the door? Inside and outside. Or does each "set" come with a outside side with a key, and an inside without key so you can open the door from the inside?
