Congratulations on the durability test results. Nice to see a vendor post that up.
Do you offer any variations in valving and/or length? What type of bumpstop do you use, or does this shock have a higher-compression valved zone to prevent bottom out? For my application, I find the OEM shocks...
I've been fighting this for a while now. Still waiting for my title from Gov Planet....Picked up my HMMWV 02 Sep they keep telling me my paperwork is in the next batch to send out for SF97 assignment (which has to occur before they make a title). Literally the exact same story for 6 weeks...
Some of you guys might have seen a thread of mine a while back discussing swapping to an LS engine in my HMMWV. Well, after enjoying it for a while now I've developed a bit of a soft spot for the 6.5 and am wondering what reasonable HP numbers can be achieved.
I have a D1SC Prochager I'm...
The only mods are springs, shocks, rocker guards and a Detroit locker in the rear. The Detroit doesn't necessarily add capability over the torsen limited slip, but drastically limits how often and how aggressively you have to use BTM.
I wouldn't really recommend going with the exact shocks I...
The adapters are made out of 0.25" wall 1" Diameter tubing. I've considered machining some that could be used bolt-in, but these require welding in place.
I'm using bilstein 5125 shocks. 255/70 valving, which is a little light, but all they offered off the shelf in that length. Agree that...
I don't know, but really want to throw mine on some corner scales to find out. It's definitely quite a bit heavier though. Pre-load won't make it ride stiffer, in fact, cutting the spring actually increases the spring rate so it will be softer with a longer spring.
I welded adapters to my...
I should get a video of mine over some washboard or whoops. It is like driving a Cadillac. Coming out of Rusty Nail in Moab my poor buddies in Jeeps didn't have a hope of keeping up.
Just curious, What model HMMWV do you have? Any idea what springs those are, or how heavy it is?
You're probably the only owner I know who is happy with the ride with stock springs. My M1123 felt like it had no suspension and would nearly pickup a tire driving on a big curb. Rough terrain...
Glider, great work. What is your ideal ride height? Personally I like something around 24.5 front and 25.5 rear (center of hub to fender).
Just a couple comments:
-On the front I would start without cutting any coils. With the extra weight it will compress the springs much more. Although...
Good work. Shocks are definitely your next step. The factory shocks are VERY stiff and won't let the new springs move like they should.
Make sure to "exercise" the new springs some to get them to settle. I like to fully flex out my HMMWV a few times when I install new springs. Typically...
Hey, see you're from Bainbridge Island. Haven't been back that way in many years, but I grew up out there. Neat place. A Humvee has got to standout on Bainbridge like a sore thumb. Hope you drive it all the time!
Hey guys, near the end of my Moab trip I noticed the front tires of my m1123 would turn on their own under heavy load. From what I've read, it sounds like this is likely due to a worn Idler, but all steering joints could be suspect.
I'm planning to upgrade to the alpha/moog problem solver...
Thanks for the great responses guys! A while back I wrote a letter to one of our representatives, but of course heard no response. I will look into getting a face to face meeting. I'd love to help get this fixed. Very interesting to hear the DMV computer system was part or all of the reason...
In CO?
I'm still awaiting my SF97 and Title from Gov Planet. I'll try again when I finally get that. I've been to the DMV a few times now and always get a different story. The VIN assignment seemed like a great option and would get me a title from a Bill of Sale only, but oh well.
Well, CO just denied my attempt to get a 17 digit VIN and title assigned to my HMMWV. Even though there is no rule I can find saying they won't assign a VIN to a MV (or off-higway vehicle for that matter).
The State Patrol had no problem inspecting it and the DMV took my paperwork and $ of...
Ok. You'll want to trim the front and rear similarly to get your desired ride height.
I believe that discussion was focused on the 4x2 Armada springs that have a 0.77 wire dia. I ran these for a bit on the rear of my HMMWV and they were a little soft. Nice, but ride height was a bit low with...
