RE: Re: RE: insurance
I'd suggest contacting the International Towing Museum and Hall of Fame in Chattanooga TN and asking them about insurance.
Whereas, for the MVPA wreckers are only a small percentage of the vehicles owned by a small percentage of their members, for the Tow Truck guys its...
M135s all had single 11.00-20 tires around - and also had wheel wheels in the bed (as your truck does). The XM211 and M211 used dual rear wheels, and all the tires were 9.00-20, and, the bed did not have fender wells. The truck above is definately a M135 someone has put dual 9.00-20s on.
HTH...
Been on the road, so am late joining this thread. Here's a photo of mine taken a few years ago.....the kid on the rear deck is my son - he'll be 23 in a couple months.

The M109 and M109A1 were both powered by the OA-331 gasoline engine. When built, the M109A2 was powered by the LDS-427 Multifuel engine. When the LD-465 was introduced to the series, the model number changed to M109A3 - and stayed the same with the introduction of the LDT-465.

Your truck looks superb - I've got some project here you can finish for me when you get done wtih yours :)

First time I've tried to draw on a photo, so ya'll pardon my child-like marks.
IMHO, the two arrows at left point to a crease caused by trying to raise hood with windshield down. The single arrow at right points to a crease caused by the hood coming up and striking the windshield frame with...
your freshly painted hood is badly dented - looks like once upon a time it opened at speed. (don't ask me how I know what that looks like).

Not WWII - but here is my entry into the military firetruck discussion....restoration was written up in MV magazine a few years back.

But I still want it :)
The value of these trucks has usually been in the machine tools that came in the bed (lathe, etc.).
Most of the time that is what the trucks were bought for - and then gutted. A nut like me would want to put all that stuff back in it.
Seriously, if you don't want this...
The transfer cases are substantially different internally - if you are asking if you can just move the air valve from the dash and the air solenoid on the case between the two vehicles - the answer is no.
Sorry to bring bad news.

US Military vehicle procurements and specs are rather like a large ship - once they are on a course, they are slow to change.
The air lock transfer was tested by Reo Motors and Aberdeen in the early 1950s (the tests, by the way, indicated that the air unit offered no improvement over a...
