It's a $400 Chinese 24v mini-split. Works well for what it is - blows 40 degree air a decent rate. I just don't think it would work as good or integrate as well as the Red Dot.
I should have said "defog" - the air drying for defrost becomes less necessary the lower you go in temperature - so...
I've got the Red Dot gen 2 system in my truck and it works great. I also have a 24v DC unit in the habitat and it...... blows cold air. Admittedly the habitat is a dark color and aluminum - the awnings help and I've got real big windows to assist with ventilation. The reality is it's really only...
If you have 3v at one terminal and 12v at the other AND it's the same story at the batteries then you have a connection problem at the batteries, bad/discharged batteries, etc. Fix your batteries and connections - even with the truck off you should have 12.6v and 25.2v at the batteries and about...
What was the reasoning behind deleting the primer?!?
The CAT engine already has a lift pump. Not understanding the point of installing an electric lift pump when the engine has a (very reliable) mechanical lift pump built in......
What do you mean when you say "RT wire 12v and LF wire is 3v"...
The 260A is several inches shorter and 26 lbs lighter and doesn't need as much clearance with the shock tower because it doesn't have the side mounted output. But it does still require the shock mount be spaced out due to it's diameter and it uses a different engine mount and longer belt.
It looked like in your pictures they already swapped in the entire chassis harness including the C7 style PDP, etc....
Making the engine run is easy - the ECM only needs two battery 28v+, and two grounds and a 28v+ ignition switched. 5 pins on the chassis side connector and a way to crank the...
It's quite the job on the 3116 and 3126b trucks - cutting huck bolts and upgrading a bunch of wiring and mounting hardware. Not impossible but there's probably easier ways to go about getting more alternator. Definitely cheaper if you are considering what Niehoff wants for one. It's not so...
The pistons and rings rarely are an issue. It's the exhaust valve springs and the disc valves themselves that wear out. Rebuilding the head is quite easy and cheap and can be done without pulling the compressor off the truck.
If it's passing oil then it might need rings but it's a toss up...
I would love to check out WI and scout for property there. Probably not in the cards for me in the near future but some day.....
Can you read schematics?
Your truck gets the oil pressure from the engine computer databus. The C7 oil pressure transducers are flaky. I would replace all of them if you haven't. Oil, atmospheric, and boost.
I can show that the military is so fed up with the 100A alternator situation and having to constantly replace them to the tune of $2k each that they have gone to the trouble of making 260A upgrade kits for every FMTV even back to the A0 trucks (which a few are still in use by the 82nd as I...
An interesting aside to this observation - I recently picked up a 1984 M1009 CUCV (Chevy K5 blazer military edition). It runs a similar hybrid 12/24 system to our trucks and has the ability to run two 6TL batteries.....
GM was present in class the day that S&S was playing hooky. These trucks...
That seems like as good a solution as any if there's room to implement it. The stock cover is mild pain in the rear to install. Have to tilt the cab.
That said - down to about the mid 20's you don't need it. Below that....we were getting down to 17 in that cold snap and my defrost was having a...
I'm not an expert - I have a dangerous level of understanding from a working mans non-EE (software in my case) engineering experience.
That said I feel like the problem is very tricky for the VR to contain - these alternators have multiple stages - in fact the 12/24 dual voltage alternator has...
