I’ve got no way of verifying if this is an issue but what type of cold weather start aid is installed? I’ve got trucks with two types. The first is the easy one, an ether start canister. I’d have to read the book on its characteristics but I don’t think it’d be an issue. If you have the other...
So are they running straight ATF? Or are they mixing it with something else? When I bought my M52A2, unbeknownst to me, the tanks were full of unfiltered used motor oil. The truck started, ran, drove and shutdown normally. I’m still finding crud in my fuel lines and tank.
Not off the top of my head. I’ll dig out my references and see if they say. Problem: the pictures are in black and white. Might be difficult to tell what color they were.
Nice! I bet the kids loved the truck! Looks like I need to get busy on my truck. No parades until July but it’s never good to wait till the last minute.
You did an awesome job!
When you set up your VIC 1, please get some pictures. It’s high time I got mine working.
If I may be so bold, you are recreating a gun truck originally built by 18 and 19 year olds with what ever materials they could find. They took trucks out of service, slapped some made up armor on it, stole, borrowed, black marketed automatic weapons by whatever means were necessary to arm their...
A full lockup seems to indicate a central point of failure. You indicated you’ve rebuilt the master cylinder? If so, might want to pull it and verify the parts you put in stayed where they’re supposed to be. If the master cylinder is good to go, check the air pack. When’s the last time it was...
I have a spin on filter on my 1009. Super simple modification. I removed the box type filter and installed the filter mount. The mounts came off a diesel powered Chevy Suburban. That truck had a complete system and included a water strainer/detector and the screw on type filter mount. I kept all...
Here’s the pics of my back bulkhead. Each sheet of steel is 3ft wide by 4 ft tall. They are backed up with 1/2 inch (IIRC) thick plywood. All around the top of the gun box is 2x12” boards. Those serve two functions. 1st, safety. If you are riding in the back and loose your balance, it’s better...
The tan truck has a couple pluses. First off, it’s got a winch. Next, it looks to have a heater system. There’s no cracks visible on the steering wheel. Just from these pictures, it might be worth a second look. Definitely want to start it up and check the electrics.
that five ton needs a...
I need to send you pictures of my access hatch. It’s very simple and invisible. Overall it looks great! A couple things you may want to look into. Where will you mount your antenna? If it will be in the same corner as the radio, no problem. If you place it on the opposite side, look into...
I’d really like to have a 900 series 5 ton. Driving it in the local parades would be outstanding! Leading the Christmas parade would be, without a doubt, the best parade ever!
Definitely worth looking into. Nice truck! One thing though, that leaking cylinder should be fixed before going anywhere. I had a small leak like that. Checked to fluid level. Needed some DOT 5, which I topped off. Less than a mile down the road, no more brakes. Fluid level flatlined. The...
