The good news is you got her fired up. I've pulled deuces many times and it there was no other issues with it, she would fire up within 30 feet or so. Amazing how quick they usually come alive. The manual lists the exact procedure but I don't know it off the top of my head. I use 3rd gear in...
In the first pic you can see our buggies to the left and the old one on the right. The last pic gives an idea of the terrain and how quickly the seasons change in AK, two weeks or so after his recovery.
Scary to think that I stood at the very spot that truck was parked about 2 weeks after they recovered it. I about choked when I started looking at the pics and realized it. My brother is stationed up there and we went on a moose hunt of a lifetime with his friends. This was sitting next to an...
Instant mash potato flakes. Buy generic and they are cheap. Fill an ashtray or something low and heavy. They will eat it and that's the end of the mousie. Not sure it is the most humane way but I don't like mice so oh well.
Long story short, the flakes swell up faster than the mouse can...
Thanks for all the input guys.
Jake, that would help explain the diff in my trucks. I checked 2 others this w/e and neither made a sound as soon as the truck was turned off. They may have one or six hours later but I wasn't around.
Thanks
Jason
My compressor doesn't run to often. My air will stay up for a couple of hours after shutdown so guessing it isn't an air leak.
I'm sure it is just a pressure dump as it sounds normal and does it everytime. I'm going to have to double check the other trucks. They may be blowing the air off...
Not sure what to call it and couldn't find anything on it searching either. One of my deuces (the one I drive a lot) makes a sound after shutdown that none of the others do. You can hear air evacuating with authority for about 20 seconds and then a distinct air "pop" and then all is quiet. It...
I did a search and this thread came up. Interesting to see as I'm a few weeks away from mounting these on my bobbed truck.
Has anyone put blocks under the springs both front and rear. I know it is frowned upon to have front spring blocks but with the square axle tubes, is it still as much...
I've had great luck with TMC. They are a huge flatbed outfit based in Des Moines but they have other hubs and I know one of them is down south b/c my last deuce transport guy from TMC was heading home and it was in GA. They are great to deal with and have perfect equipment and business ethic.
Both trucks on this post look very nice considering they've been up north for 20+ years. I purchased two M1008's from up that way earlier this year. Both mine are rusted big time. The good news is the panels for this vintage Chevy are very easy to come by and cheap. Fenders $100 ish, fender...
I always thought of myself as preferring the OD, camo, tan type stuff but that actually looks cool in a different sort of way.
And yes my Avatar has a red one but it was first so it has a special place in my collection...until I sell it.
Thanks. I'll trade you my truck and tires for your truck and tires. :-D My old girl has seen way too much salt in it's life.
As far as road speed, it is almost like having OD now. It goes 55 mph w/zero issue. With the stock tires I felt guilty over 48 mph as it sounded like it was ready...
What a difference tires make. I switched to 34"x10.5"x16" tires on my stock POS wheels. Very minor fender trimming was done and may not have been needed. Didn't want to take any chances on tearing up sidewalls. Truck is otherwise stock.
The truck went places Saturday in 2 wheel drive that...
That looks like one heck of a setup. To me that is the most fun part of the hunt anyway. Everytime you shoot somethin then you have to skin, gut, cut, bag, hang etc. etc. That takes so much time away from the fire pit, cigar smokin, beer drinking and b.s.
Nice! That looks like it darn near chokes off your rad. air flow. I swore the guy told me it was a 40k but the bumper setup on yours is similar to what we would have to do.
Thanks to all for the input and perspectives. It is major overkill but the only winch available nearby. Might just be...
Question for all the winch / winching experts:
Anyone ever install a 40K winch on the front of a deuce or possibly a bobber? It should fit based on ruff dimensions. May have to do some bumper mods. I don't need it, may seldom use it but have access to a complete one. The weight will be...
