Finally spraying some OD green, and falling in love all over again.

    Winch Teardown Q

A replacement shaft is coming from White Owl. If it is no different George said I can return it.

    Winch Teardown Q

This flange inside the drum is a bit bent up on the edge. This could be a contributing factor but not the whole problem I would think...

    Winch Teardown Q

No, I never suspected anything was wrong until I was function-testing the assembled winch by hand. BUT...now I'm kinda stumped again. I got the shaft out and it does not appear to be twisted. See pic attached, seems to be about the right amount of offset you were describing--not quite 180°...

    Winch Teardown Q

Yep we seem to be on the right track here. G-man, my measurements relative to these photos were 13mm and 37mm. Thanks again.

    Winch Teardown Q

Thanks guys. When I got to work today I checked my other winch (the one I have for sale) and it does not have this problem so that tells me the problem isn't my re-assembly! I have sent a message to George at White Owl to see if he has this part NOS. I see in that other thread that Memphis had...

    Winch Teardown Q

I have had this winch back together for a while now and I was getting ready to put it on the truck...but I'm noticing a problem. It seems that the sliding clutch is engaged even when the lever is in the "out" position. I can get it to disengage by pulling the lever FURTHER "out," (past the...

    Hood - Rubber Strip Replacement

I just realized--mine might be different than what you needed, because I'm using tire strips not NOS rubber strips. Thanks but nevermind! I will figure it out.

    Hood - Rubber Strip Replacement

    3/16" by what length rivets?

    Hood - Rubber Strip Replacement

I've got 2 strips cut out of an old tire and I was planning on using screws (like the ones I took out) but I'll try the rivets--thanks!

    GSA lot on hold

In a quick perusal I've seen a pickup truck and a lawn mower that have that same wording in the auction. So I'm guessing they put it with EVERY vehicle.

    Slowest deuce restoration ever

The hood from my '69 parts truck did not have a handle so I swiped one off the frame and re-purposed it.

    Fine thread bolts vs coarse

I've been using fine-thread bolts from Mcmaster-Carr. I think before it's over with, I will have spent more on bolts than I did on the truck from GL (in all seriousness).

    Slowest deuce restoration ever

I'll have to check that out. Been keeping McMaster-Carr in business I think.

    Slowest deuce restoration ever

How do you keep water ( condensation) out of the paint gun? Never had that happen before.

    Slowest deuce restoration ever

Painting today. . (I guess I should have said "priming today.")

Maybe I need a new bed...

I think he meant "a good welder" as a person, not the item. I've seen worse. That fender is better than mine were and they're both in primer now. Keep after it!

HF paint gun on sale now

    It's $49 now.
