Hi Crowem87
I was hoping Dr Duce would chime in with information. If anyone is going to know the answer on a CCKW question it is him. At one time or another he has owned and worked on almost every variation of CCKW ever built.

Hi
Did you use the crimp bands? When Ive used these fittings aways used either the crimp bands or fuel injection hose clamps to be sure of the seal, but then again I was using them on oil lines that run at much higher preasure than a fuel line.
Good tech tip to remind people of ways to...
Hi TobyS
Not as expensive as you might think last time I had a set done price was about equal to the price for NOS for cylinders that were getting very hard to find. Place I had all three trucks and two cars done was White Post Restorations in Virginia and they are still in business, just...
Consider having them sleeved
Hi All
While my MVs are a different time period, older, I would offer the following comment on replacing wheel cylinders or master cylinders. Consider having them sleeved, my experience is that it is a once and done effort. My trucks are all around 75 years old...
Hi
Another source for propane conversion unit would be forklift repair or sales outlet. Hospital I worked for years ago searched for a propane conversion until, tried all the normal generator dealers they wanted to sell them a new generator, the forklift outfit wanted to know displacement, RPM...
Worst critter problem I had here in the Northeast was having two chipmunks run across my chest while laying on a creeper under the truck in the shop.
Did you tell the trucks new owner about the snake?

Back to the original question
Hi All
Thought this was a pretty good question. What to do will depend a lot on what else has or has not been done to the MV, in this case a HMMWV, before.
I'll be curious to hear what the chosen course of action was, and what was the result how much antifreeze...
Hi
Where do you plan to bolt the Jib Crane? I have a hydraulic with electric cable winch rotating crane bolted left front corner works really great with drop side body. Added some box tubing under the floor plate to bolt the load to the structure.
Enjoying your project keep us posted...
Hi Porksplace
Just tried the link you listed https://www.steelsoldiers.com/search...archid=6268446
and it did not work don't know why an archive file could not be found unless it is the recent server change.
The Weight of Deuce parts seems to work fine.
Cheers Phil
Look on the bright side from the number of people who said Thanks, shows we missed the forum. Would be far worse if it had been down for two days and no body notice.
Cheers Phil
After read that
Hi Ristystud
After reading that decided to up grade my jack stands, I've been think about it for awhile but your post made my mind up. That is to cut 4 oak blocks to fit under the center shaft of the stand to provide a solid block between shaft and the floor. As I generally...
Hi
Liked your photos, reminds me of the phrase "shade tree mechanic" in the very best sense when it was common for people to do their own mechanical work.

IR guns are an inexpensive and useful tool
Hi
I found an IR thermoeter to be a great tool for spotting problems. Having 3 symilar MVs to keeping track of what is normal for each truck IR gun is a usefull tool to check things. I have created a check sheet that lists all of the key points. It...
Not all Weld Through primers are created equal
Hi Guys
Not all weld through primers are created equal. I have been working on a restoration project not MV that has required extensive welding of newly made body and structural parts. In doing this I have tried several, though not all, of the...
Attention all SteelSoldiers Readers in New England
Hi All
Just a reminder to mark your calendars for the 31st Annual Weare Summer Rally July 26th through Saturday July 28th 2018.

Curiousity Stops
Hi
In nearly 40 years of driving some odd MVs I have been actually stopped (flashing lights) a couple of times all stemming from the fact that my trucks are right hand drive, being Canadian Military Patterns from WWII. I have made it my practice to pulled over and stopped...
Non Detergent vs Detergent Oil in Stovebolt GM Engine
You raise a good question of detergent vs non detergent oil. From my point of veiw it is a matter of what has the engine been running, if non detergent stick with it, changing may result in leaking. For stovebolt Chevrolet as in CMPS...
Hi
There was of video of M1009 driving along the boarder fence this morning news, must have been file video though as the Guard has not even actually been deployed yet.
Best wishes for all troops being deployed any where.
Cheers Phil

Hi
Think the key word is damper, don't think the power steering will really know it is there, years ago I put steering dampers on two of my trucks which have manual steering, because was tired of having elbow driven into the door bye steering kick back from an hitting obstacles particularly...
