Floridianson, I like your vehicle cover, I'm planning on installing one asap to cover my Deuce, as the sun here oxidizes the paint in short order. I'm going to repaint the truck this spring and would like to keep it looking nice for awhile. Floridianson who manufactured your cover?
Thanks NDT for that info. This truck needs a little TLC but overall it isn't in too bad a shape. It has an LD-465-1 non-turbo engine and is clean under the hood. It's pretty much a standard 1970s truck. BTW, Have A Happy New Year!!
Johan, I found this 1970 M-275A2 down in Texas and it also has markings on the back of the cab ECS1-99, same as the markings on the center of the front bumper.
Mike I'll see what I can do to get out your way and lend a hand after 1st of the year. Hopefully you don't have anything more than a bad head gasket. Are you thinking about pulling both heads? After having all that coolant in the oil, it might be nice to get a look at all 8 cylinder liners and...
SC, I need to get a Pioneer Tool Kit for my truck. I think I've been procrastinating for 6 or 7 years now. I got it, get a Pioneer tool kit for my New Years resolution.

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/NATO_Military_Map_Symbols Johan77 here is a list of NATO Symbols & Markings. From what I could find, the letters SF stand for Special Forces. I didn't have a whole lot of time today to search for SMGP, I hope it's in this list. Johan, a Happy New Year to You...
When I started reading this post and thinking of all the possibilities that could cause this problem. The shifter boot never once crossed my mind. Yea glad it was an easy fix.
Mike, give Diesel Kings Truck Repair in Sacramento a call, 916-862-2924. They specialize in heavy truck repair, full 5 star on yelp. And as frank stated keep an eye out on GP.
Mike, get a Detroit Diesel service manual for the 8V92 and start getting familiar with it. Should have a trouble shooting section. Probably several available on e-pay.
