    Regulator Question

The transmission operates on 12V. Without a 12V source your rear battery will not recharge properly as the transmission pulls power from it, and the front battery will overcharge. This has the potential for catastrophic failure if it goes on too long. I suppose you could do some type of 24-12V...

First HMMWV, is there something I should replace before hitting the trails?

Only small ones. Some cracks on the side of my hood are testament to the fact that larger trees don't appreciate you trying to run them over in such a small vehicle.

First HMMWV, is there something I should replace before hitting the trails?

As long as the jeeps aren't folding in the mirrors you'll probably fit. I know first thing I do on the jeep trails is fold my mirrors forward all the way to keep them from getting hit.

First HMMWV, is there something I should replace before hitting the trails?

You will want to learn how to do "BTM" or Brake Throttle Modulation. Basically, you apply the brakes a little bit and hold them with your left foot, then use your right foot on the accelerator pedal until the engine overpowers the brakes. What the partial brake application does is causes the...

First HMMWV, is there something I should replace before hitting the trails?

Not so much replace, but go under the truck and check all the halfshaft bolts for tightness. They are notorious for loosening or not being tight enough, and as they back out eventually they will shear, leaving you in 3 wheel drive until they are replaced (only moves in HL or L at that point)...

    (stupid) pitman arm replacement question.

the castle nut is on the other end. The steering output shaft just uses a washer and regular not, not a castle nut.

    Towing Question

agreed. I have a serious dislike of towing any bumper pull that weighs more than the tow vehicle. gooseneck/5th wheel weight isn't anywhere near as big of a factor.

24v battery charging through NATO port

no, you leave everything hooked up and just plug it in. Several people have contacted noco and the response is that it is 100% safe to have them hooked up to different batteries wired in series. It's what I have in my truck and haven't had any issues.

    Water cans on fender?

I think it depends on how you mount it. One bolt in each corner might not be strong enough overall and eventually rip out Making sure all the bolts go through reinforced areas, or adding reinforcement plates underneath I don't think you'll have issues.

24v battery charging through NATO port

For occasional charging it should be fine through the slave port. If you are plugging it in regularly then I'd recommend something like the NO.CO gen 5x2 that is a 2 bank 12V charger that hardwires to the batteries. Mount it in the open area next to the battery compartment and then run the plug...

    M720 or M832

If a CUCV was pulling one, then either it was heavily modified, or an idiot. I have an M720 over in my back field I bought from one of the other guys around here. It's certainly heavy enough on it's own. I helped recover a shelter with another one, and it took 3-4 people to maneuver each...

    (stupid) pitman arm replacement question.

So now it's getting frustrating. Installed the new Moog problem solver pitman arm. It doesn't go on very far. With the nut torqued down to 186 ft lbs, and no lock washer installed, the nut is on the shaft with only a couple threads past it. In other words about 1/4" or so further down than the...

    Towing Question

Only reason I have the $700 hitch on my truck is because someone within driving distance bought it, then realized it wouldn't work with the airlift bumper so sold it to me half price. Black Dog didn't have their receiver out yet, and none of the other ones on the market looked like they would...

    Purchased a 2006 Humvee M1097R1 - Need Help

Reading through, it looks like there were multiple levels of reset, and starting with different models of truck to turn them into heavy variants. Could just be the first sets were only brought up to being heavy variant, then they did another run and brought them up to heavy A2 version, then the...

    M720 or M832

Both are air operated brakes, so without modification neither is suitable for towing behind a pickup, but both would be suitable behind the M35a2.

    Auxbeam wiring question

your generator produces 60 amps of 24V, so 1440 watts of power (really it charges at 28V so almost 1700 watts, but you usually don't want to be running generators at max for extended periods of time) The truck itself probably draws up to a couple hundred watts when using all the running lights...

    Auxbeam wiring question

What model of truck do you have? Some of the answers will be different if you have a truck with a 3 speed transmission or a 4 speed, and 60 amp or 200 amp generator. Also for your calculations is that each individual light drawing those wattages, or is it the combined total for all the...

    Towing Question

To go further in depth to my previous answer: (edit: looking at your picture, I'm assuming you have an M1123 from the A2 front bumper and no rear bumper. If this is wrong please correct me as some of the answers change a little) The HMMWV isn't really designed to pull heavy loads. The...

    Towing Question

With proper hitch and brake controller, it's not impossible to tow that amount, but it's highly discouraged.

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

the filter is after the lift pump but before the injection pump. Injection pump has enough suction to pull fuel from the tank, so you can still drive even with a failed lift pump. As soon as you open the drain valve you let air into the system, and the injection pump doesn't have enough...
