    That's some serious customizing, there...

You should see the build. He's done a complete frame-off. Custom bumpers, the works. The custom dash work is in marine plywood and fiberglass with parts from a MAN L2000. I've seen that type of construction used a lot.

    Adding Cruise Control to C7

Yeah, but I bet you get out and do trending YouTube dances while your truck is moving. Tens and tens of views.... ;p

Yeah. Hell yeah ! I've been debating if I want to take the cab to that level but after seeing this... *from the FB "LMTV FMTV Owners Group"

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

Agreed. There are plenty of examples of externally heated water and battery compartments, though. It's also quite subjective to operational environment. As I said, my first choice is internal but down here I could leave both water and batteries external and never miss a night on the Island...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Mine isn't one of "those" trucks.... That's just Saharan dust. It'll get clean next time it rains.

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

Yeah, it froze down here. Once. :) But I spend the vast majority of my time in places that don't ever freeze. And if it's going to freeze in some place, I need to be driving to another place. ;) I do actually still snow ski and was planning to take the truck up to CO for a few winters, but...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

I'm not concerned about the tank flexing and breaking. I'm concerned that adding the extra 500lbs to one side of the hab (which sits on capture springs). The capture springs are calculated for a specific cargo weight and I'm somewhat over what would be in the standard M1079 shopvan. It's...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Finally got around to replacing the cover panel for the A/C unitl access. I blew off going down the highway somewhere. I just used sheet metal I had onhand. Fortunately the piano hinge was still on the truck (actually, it had fallen down behind the cab and wedged near the hydraulic pump) and...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

Mine are the 50 gal water tank and the battery bank. I have space allocated under the bed for the water tank but for reasons that you mention, I find it less than ideal. My batteries are either going aft above one of the fixed mounting point s (or they could still end up in a box external to...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

Oh, people have done it. People do a lot of things with these trucks. Like reduce the departure angle and then go try to tear the hab off using terrain for grins. But it will fit up top. It will also fit bolted to either side, bolted to the front, slung underneath the transfer case. or...

    CHUCKY'S TREE HOUSE !

Yep. Purchase some $20 civilian LEDs. A bracket or a pedestal/bucket from the civilian market. Either way is a fraction of what the scalpers want for the drop-in surplus LEDs that fit the OEM buckets.. It's the same $20 pair of LEDs period. Not $400 LEDs. *see Amazon

    CHUCKY'S TREE HOUSE !

Somebody with the CAD skills needs to 3D print a cover ring for the LMTV bucket that allows for the use of a civilian 4" round LED. It's another one of those things that would sell a million copies (unless it's priced by one of the point-of-compass skalperz)...

    Registering a LMTV in California

    Registering a LMTV in California

Most states have some guidelines/manual on "assembled vehicles" that define the requirements. These can typically be found at the DMV website. Here's the one for Texas (*see 11.2 for the RV requirements)...
