I may have not been 100% clear. Not looking to put 53's on the Trailer. The m923 has them on it and just seeing if that trailer will hook good behind the truck with 53's on it. Truck not here so I can't be sure!!!!
TM says TDC prior to removal. I do not see what it matters....pump will be timed before installation and pump off will allow easy timing of motor with the timing pin.
Can anyone tell me if the timing pin is spring loaded. It was out, I tapped on the end of it and it went in about halfway. I am thinking it is riding on the timing gear waiting for hole to come around and fall in. Just not sure if I have to press on it while trying to barr engine over. Only...

Been around HMMWV's since early 90's and dont remember a high pitched whine coming from the motor. Not like this. The sound it in the video if you can weed through the normal rattling shitbox sounds. I have a squeak up front from what I think is the idler and I thought this was from that but...
I lubed up the cable as suggested, made no diff on it. That shift is the single thing that sucks about driving that truck.
Is there anything else to check? I am hoping to work on it this weekend. My damn fuel pump is leaking yet again. No gasket this time, just the correct RTV. Not sure what...
Mattmo, to answer your question about what the command did with these vehicles...the answer is simply maintain. Before the Shitshow started in the middleeast, the assets in the caves and on all the ships stationed all over the globe was to be a ready force of beans, bullets, and band aids ready...
