    M-52 Recovery

Wow, it’s been a long time since I updated this thread. I’ve got the M931 fifth wheel assembly in place. Still pondering how it will get attached to the frame. One of the myriad tasks that need completing is replacing the dash. I’ve had the replacement for quite some time but I’ve had other more...

USMC the end of the tanks

Replacing the M1 with a tank more fitted to the strategy envisioned with a smaller more capable armored vehicle makes sense. Think WW II. The M3 Stewart worked quite well in the earlier island battles the Marine Corps fought in. The larger M4 was an improvement and finished up the war as the...

    G506 Class 525 (G7133) restore

It’s finally turning the corner. There’s still some repair work to do but I’m now able to start painting parts in their final coloring.

    Yanmar L100V Help Request

You probably have this one as well. One problem I ran across, can’t remember what engine, where is was a crack in the metal inside the piston wall. You may have already covered this but run a compression check, if that’s even possible, and see if you are losing enough compression to fubar the...

    M151 gas evaporating from carb

I’ve come across this problem. It drove me nuts until I did some serious digging into some really old motor manuals. First off, trace the fuel line from the tank up to the carb. Make sure there are no kinks, bends, pinched lines or any other mechanical problems. Next, since you have a carb...

    G506 Class 525 (G7133) restore

That 5 window pickup would make one awesome restoration project. Just finding one these days can be considered close to a miracle.

    G506 Class 525 (G7133) restore

Slowly working through the pile of parts off the G506. Todays effort was focused on the step supports on both sides. The right hand (passenger) side was fairly simple. Stick part in sand blaster cabinet and remove old paint, rust, etc. the drivers side is a different story. I’m not sure who...

Anyone building a Gun Truck based on current conflicts

I got these from Lawrence Livermore Labs website. The most I’ve seen on older trucks was only limited by the crew’s ingenuity and available resources. It appears there are four guns per truck in the two truck photo.

Anyone building a Gun Truck based on current conflicts

There a couple people that have indicated they were trying to gather up the parts to create a more modern gun truck. Iron Horse is one example that I’ve seen pictures of and used as a model for creating said truck. You might try reading James Lyle’s Hard Ride series.

All Military Vehicles banned from road in Maryland

Left Maryland in ‘96. Got transferred to Iceland then to Montana. I took it in the shorts selling the house. If I hadn’t bought the house with my VA benefit, I’d have lost even more money. That’s beside the point. At this point, the best thing that happened to me and my family was getting our...

    WY/CO Chapter

It sounds like a great time! Unfortunately, I am not physically able to drive that far. I was a bit too wild in my younger days. Bad knees, back, neck, feet, and more. I appreciate the offer! If they have a shoot in the Cheyenne area, I’ll jump at the chance. Okay, jump won’t happen. But a...

    WY/CO Chapter

I’d love to go to this event but driving a deuce (M35A2) Gun Truck from Cheyenne to Casper is a bit more that I can handle. Give me a couple weeks to get there and a week to recover, I might make it. That is if I can get a kitchen pass for that length of time. I do not see it happening in my...

    Rigging Kit

Rigging, in simple terms, means adjusting for proper dimensions. Starting in the cockpit with the “sticks” and all along the length of the flight controls, there are adjustable links. In order to make sure that any maintenance on the flight controls is done correctly, you measure each component...

    Battery charger

I posted a couple of my tool kits and in keeping with my intent to show off some of the tool kits used on various military vehicles. First was a rigging kit for a CH-53 helicopter, and second was a tool kit for maintaining electrical, radio and anything else for fixing grrr’ed wiring. Today I’m...
