IF I found a good Top ....
and
IF I found the "Black Vinyl Piece" that mounts into the groove at the top of the windshield frame ...
Would the Top and Black Vinyl piece assemble in the same manner as the "black vinyl pieces" that run vertically along the rear of the side glass windows ...
BTW ... I have one of them Helicopter joysticks ... I know its military but don't know which one ... I guess I should dig it out and check the numbers on it.
I always thought I would put it in one of my MGB's.
Maybe the Deuce is a better place for it.

Oh ... I don't know ...
Perhaps something "period specific" would be OK ... like ..
... maybe San Miguel, or maybe OB beer.
It would show the Deuce as a "well heeled" traveler of foreign lands.

YOU, Sir, are an ANGEL! No wonder you're a four star general!!!
A straight up answer to a simple, direct question.
No onions, lettuce, or pickle ... you gave me EXACTLY what I asked for.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
If I ever meet you ... I'll buy the first beer ... or maybe...
The top don't have the plastic strip ... that's what started this thread.

Silicone grease???
Do you mean good ol' NSN 6850-00-880-7616, Silicone Compound, MIL-S 8660C?
I got a full case of that stuff ... its a little out of date (94) ... I snagged it when I was stationed at...
The current owner tells me he has everything BUT the top.
But you HAVE given me an Idea for a field expedient ... that just might work. Maybe even two of them now that I sit and think about it.
If it works ... I'll post a couple pictures ... it just might help somebody else out.
Thanks

THANK YOU VERY MUCH BUD!!! I really appreciate it.
But I'll be able to get it done.
I might be live in Georgia now ... but I grew up on the water in New (freakin' cold) Jersey ... and I stood more watches then I care to remember in weather colder then 4 degrees.

Yeah ... I got just about everything else under control ... tools, spares and etc.
I got a Carhart suit and long johns ... and my Navy Cold weather gear if I have to.
A cheap top popped up ... and I thought I would give it a try.
Again ... Thanks for the kind advice.

I know I can buy a new top ... and probably will. But I just don't have time to wait.
There is a bit of a time constraint to this sale and I don't want to loose this truck.
Thanks for all the kind help anyway.

Just curious ... what the HECK does that have to do with this truck needing a top?
I gotta have certain quals to drive this truck and want to stay warm?
sheesh ... some of you guys are TOUGH.

I have bought a Deuce in Maryland ... and I have to drive it to NoGa.
This Deuce has no soft top.
I have found a top ... but it is missing the front plastic.
I KNOW that there are ways I can get this repaired ... IF I had time I would do that.
But I have NO time ...
I need to find a way to...
I need the dimensions to cut some MDF to fit a driver side box (not a springer) seat. Bottom AND back.
I have bought a 68 General that is missing the drive seat cushions. I have NOTHING to sit on ... or measure ... and its 600 miles away.
I MUST pick it up ASAP and don't have enough time to...
I've found a Deuce I am thingking HARD about.
It is powered by a LDT 465 D Turbo engine ... that is marked "NON MULTI FUEL".
One of the main considerations for swapping by beloved Ford Pickup would be for the multifuel capability.
What is the deal here ... is this DEFIANTLY a "non-multifuel...
Aren't they those retractable planks that ran down the center of the bed of the truck? To sit on them ... you had to straddle them, then squat, pushing yourself into the guy in front of you, while some guy pushes himself against you from behind?
Wow ... does THAT bring back memories.
For...
ASK ... and ye shall receive.
PERFECT!
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for.
Now it falls to me to do the seekin' and findin' out what I need to know.
Thanks guys!!! I appreciate the help!

Is there a data sheet somewhere that lists the various engine, trans and differential specs installed in the Deuce?
Such as Manufacturers, Engine Displacement/Horsepower/torque, or Trans/Differential gear ratios?
Or were they all pretty much the same across the various builders ... like a M1...
