How nice is the one you got? Is it close (minus the winterization kit)? If so, I guess I'd let it drop. If the one you got is not as nice, I'd contact a lawyer to see what you can do. Unfortunately, if this is how GL operates at that site, your gen set is probably long gone. Good luck.
PM RRACING; he repaired an M917 that was making a "clunking" noise. I am sure he can fill you in...or you may be able to search this site. I am sorry I can't be of more help.
I am not saying this isn't so, but I have a fuel burning heater in my M925A2. It has been in there almost a decade (I installed it) and it works every time I fire it up...all with over the road diesel plus regular use of conditioner. Maybe I have just been lucky. Any suggestions on keeping it...
The handle might also be out of adjustment. John Winslow once had an M936A1 that wouldn't engage at all (HIGH or LOW)...it was only an adjustment issue.
If your quote is for $1.70/mile as quoted above (I have not calculated the exact mileage), that rate is very fair. I usually like to pay no more than $2/mile. The USHIP suggestion above is a good one, too. Or, drive it since you are buying from a private source and can presumably get tags and...
The data plate is on the dashboard. If you are sitting in the driver's seat, it is located in front of your left knee...angling down toward the floor. It is easiest to inspect when you are on the ground looking up into the cab. Check out our favorite auction site for pictures. Just scroll...
There was a flaw with the originally designed drive shafts. So, Stewart and Stevenson, the original manufacturer, sent service techs out to the field to replace the drive shafts with a better designed unit. The data plates of all vehicles that were so upgraded should be stamped with a D.
If you end up needing to replace your transmission, get a non-overdrive transmission for a replacement. Your overall top speed will be lower, but your power through all of the gears will be better. I once had an M543A2 with that transmission, and that truck pulled hard all the way through 5th...
Hello,
I am looking for a cargo cover and top framework for an M1085, tan preferably. If anyone has one or knows the location of one, please either PM me or post it here. Thanks in advance.
I don't want to come across as an expert, because I only know what little I have read, but, yes, it sounds like your engine block is one of the good ones.
Thanks for the frequent updates; I have enjoyed reading this thread. I have been eyeing these trucks, too. They look really nice. A good friend of mine told me that these trucks have Chinese blocks that are prone to failure and that is why the USMC is getting rid of them. I did an Internet...
One additional point. What makes the RRAD trucks so attractive, in my opinion, is all the nice new stuff that is usually found on them (new seats, new windshields, new tires, recent paint). The paint is also what I consider to be a weakness. The paint could also be a weakness as could hide...
Go back and do a search. I posted on this long ago. First, the RRAD trucks are NOT rebuilt. Someone posted a PowerPoint that showed what they did, but basically they prettied up the truck and repaired anything they found. But, they did not overhaul the trucks, which is what a rebuild implies...
While I have not purchased any of the HMMWVs that have come out on GP, I have been told that the titles are marked FOR OFF-ROAD USE ONLY. That would seem to me to be an issue. If you are able to circumvent the rules to get a on-road title, AND YOU GET INTO A WRECK, there could be someone...
I was shocked to hear about Dudley's passing last night. I immediately reached out to Matt to offer my support. I consider Matt and Sean to be good friends, and Dudley was right there with them. He will be missed. I recall Dudley telling me many times about how he always tried to prepare his...
