    Preferred Electric Fuel Pump

I used the "stock" inline pump that GM installed on the 6.5TD trucks in the 90s. It works fairly well, as long as your electrical connections are good. Scott

M1123 HMMWV Leesburg, GA to Liberty Hill, TX

Welcome to the site. If you're interested, the Lone Star chapter of the MVPA meets at Camp Mabry the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm, in the museum. There are a handful of us in the Leander/Liberty Hill/Bertram area. You'll see me driving around occasionally. Scott

    Brake Tube/Fitting sizes?

LMC Truck offers pre-bent stainless steel brake lines. Cost is $200-250, I think. Scott

Whistling sound after changing glow plugs

"Vacuum leaks are easier to find than you might think. OR maybe I should say that figuring out where on the motor you should search a little harder. Starting fluid in a spray can... Short shot... Pointed at the rubber hoses... If the motor speeds up, you are on to something. If not, move...

    CUCV Camo Paint Pattern

    Replacing TH400 Tranny with 700R4 in M1009

If you will be using stock size tires, the 3.42 gear and 700R4 combo will work ok. I put 33 inch tires on my wife's civvy Blazer (3.42 from the factory) with the 700R4, and it was a dog. I went to 3.73 gears, and that helped. The beloved 6.2 diesel just doesn't have enough torque to drag around...

Vintage pics of M809s at Aberdeen Proving Ground

I know! At the first static display this year, people asked "What year is your truck?" I replied, "1971." Then I shocked myself by realizing, it's 50 years old!

Vintage pics of M809s at Aberdeen Proving Ground

That is way cool! Not sure if I would take my M813 through 78" deep water, though.

Engine compartment electrical upgrades - Let's see some pics!

Man, even the "before" looks neater than my truck.....

    Big Mike’s Motor Pool

I also agree. I've ordered several parts from him over the years. The parts are described correctly, and shipping is quick and priced fairly. I'm sure I'll do business with him again before it's all over. Scott

Engine compartment electrical upgrades - Let's see some pics!

My M1009 is basically stock, with a little band-aid work by the previous owner. Nothing egregious, just have to trace some wires when troubleshooting. Post some pics when you get it done! It might inspire me to clean up my wiring. But probably not.... Scott

    Aftermarket Wiper Blades?

True! Theoretically, they should all be the same from 1973 through 1987, but it doesn't hurt to err on the cautious side. Scott

    Aftermarket Wiper Blades?

Go down to your local big box auto supply zone and get 16" wiper blades for (correct!) 86 K 30. https://www.autozone.com/ignition-tune-up-and-routine-maintenance/wiper-blade-windshield/p/duralast-ceramic-wiper-blade-dlc16/1065196_0_0

    Identify this wire

That probably goes to the oil pressure sending unit on the back of the block, behind the intake manifold. Low oil pressure creates a ground, turning on the OIL light. When the wire is unplugged, the OIL light doesn't work. Scott

First fuel leak located - sort of…

Jason at JS Motors and Fab in Bertram (512-818-5261) is familiar with the CUCVs, and most other military vehicles. He's always been fair with me on the labor rates. Scott

    Timing Gear Drive

The only difference between a C code engine and a J code engine is the intake manifold. The C code intake has a CDR valve (similar function to an EGR valve) that restricts airflow somewhat. Otherwise, the engines are all the same. Scott
