It’s called M-thrax. It could be trucks, jeeps, tanks, generators.... It doesn’t matter. There is no know cure. Once you have it, you’re stuck with it. I’ve Been dealing with it for years.🙁
I’d like to see some pictures of your walk through. I have a 934 converted to a “ motor home” but it is registered and insured as an AM General truck. If you are still looking for RV insurance, you might try General RV. They have an insurance department.
Rapco sells Gillespie. Gillespie makes good paint. It lays down nice and is relatively durable. You can purchase Gillespie from several sources. I had an issue with Rapco, and won’t go back for more. PM me if you want to know more. My next vehicle will be painted with Beher.
I use Hagerty Insurance for my MV’s. They specialize in classic cars and HMV. They require a picture of the vehicle. You will get a better rate if the picture shows the vehicle “stored” indoors. It took me a weekend to clear a space big enough in my barn for my 934 for that picture.😜 Here’s a...
First off, welcome aboard!
You do know that most of us started out with smaller vehicles and “worked our way up”, right? Well no little 1/4 or 3/4 ton here. Just jump into the hobby with a 5 ton! It’s really smarter this way. Once M-tharx sets in, you were going to wind up with one anyway...
Simp, Are you kidding about using an abrasive blaster to spray Behr paint? I plan to paint my 934 with Behr. I was planning on renting a good airless sprayer to do it. Did you thin the paint at all?
By the way, your truck is awesome!
I use the Battery Tender brand. They make a 24 volt unit. I have one installed in my 934 and another one I switch between my M37 and M151. They are not cheap but cost less than replacement batteries. There are other fine brands out there as well. Just be sure they are tenders and not chargers...
Everything I’m seeing here say durability is good. I know a fellow that painted his WWII dodge with latex and it looks great, is gasoline resistant and very easy to touch up. I will painting my truck this summer with behr paint.
I don’t know how it works in Texas but in Michigan I titled a M101 trailer as a utility trailer. All I had was a bill of sale for it and a weight slip. In Michigan once the trailer is titled and tagged, you never have to register it again or pay for tags.
With your trailer, you are getting some...
I agree with cruzer747. I use 10 awg Wire for my 12 and 24 volt feeds to fuse panels or accessories with high current demands. It’s just good insurance. I buy 10 or 12 awg extension cords and cut the ends off. I like using wire that is flexible in my truck because there is a lot of vibration ...
I don’t run any accessories off my main 24 volt batteries unless I’m driving . I don’t want to run them down and not be able to start the motor.
My fridge runs on 120 v ac or propane . I lived in
my truck for six weeks last summer. I ran on propane almost all of the time. If I had a place to...
At first I wasn’t sure if I liked the upgrade. Now that I have used it a bit, I like it! I think all of the members should appreciate the time and effort it takes to maintain a site like this. This has to be one of the best subject specific sites on the net. Not only because it is well...
I connected an in-line 30 amp fuse to the 24 volt battery connection. From the fuse I connected to a high current switch. I then came out of the switch and fed a 24 volt “accessories fuse block. From one of the new 24 volt fuses I fed a 24 to 12 volt converter. I connected the output of the...
First off, moving out of a state because they won’t register an HMV is short sited. There are a lot of states making it hard on us to register our vehicles. Michigan is one of them. Prior to HMMWV’s being released, it was very easy in Michigan to register a HMV. Now the tide has turned. The...
