WOW. Must be a special unit that you can see the exterior panels from the inside. All of my CUCV's have/ had 2 steel walls in all the outer panels.
Fixing it on the back side wouldn't make it much easier. But replacing every rusty panel on an old CUCV can get pricey and labor intense. Good...
WOW, Getting the Line X off the entire vehicle will be a challenge. I think it was never clean and rust free before the Line X was applied. That is the standard operating procedure for most paint jobs I see. Getting the surface rust free and sealed would be my first goal. But being covered in...
I would have made better progress tonight, but I was unable to locate my body shims. I did get 2 fenders attached. The fenders are not adjusted but I have all the bolts started. That is an accomplishment for 1 night. Take Care.
I hope you mean valve cover gasket. Many things to leak up top. Vacuum pump, sending unit, valve covers. But yes, oil leaks are hard to find. Not always. I would pull the engine and change all the gaskets if it were bad enough.
Don't you recover the fluid. I use a mighty vac brake bleeder and I recover all the fluid.
I just bought a large bottle of DOT 5 for trailers and CUCV's it was $27. , That is the correct fluid and I have no choice. At one time I had a 5 gallon pail of DOT 5 that was outdated. I used it for 20...
I ran the Goodyear MTR Kevlar on my M1009's for many years. It is my opinion that they are the perfect tire for the M1009. And I had many people tell me they liked my M1009. Take Care I ran several sets till they were bald, and I can say I never had a flat tire.
This is my updated lighting. This trailer is only in the design phase. I am replacing all the LED lighting except the 3 LED lights under the rear angle. I plan on using small LED clearance lamps. These big clearance lights are prone to breakage and the front corner lights are ridiculously low...
I will just paste this picture here. My Son had just arrived back from Iraq, he and his friends went wheeling. This how the M1028A1 was when I was called to pull it out. He was fearful it was going to roll and wanted Dad to be there so I could get it out of the hole with no damage. The winch...
Today after work I decided to replace the kinked brake line. Yea I guess that was bit kinked. It is horrible how poorly these trailers are handled. I decided the B/O taillamps had to go. I am not wiring it for a military plug so they will serve no purpose. I am going to use lights similar...
And yes, the M1010's are going to the big scrap yard in the hills very soon. I have some construction work being done in my yard and the 1 M1010 with the skirts and A/C still attached against the fence is going to be the first M1010 to go. Be quick. I am in the early stages of that...
Just so you don't think I was slacking off last night, I have a progress report. I dismounted all 5 wheels and tires and dropped them off at the sand blaster. I was fortunate when I pulled into the lot the blasting room doors were closed and he came out and put them right in to be blasted. Only...
My experience with air spring assists was never good. I have friends that swear by them on smaller trucks. I had them on a CUCV M1028 salt spreader truck and in the middle of a storm one of the connections leaked air and the truck was not usable. That was when I installed the new leaf springs. I...
I try. Not as quickly as some others would like me to. But trying and getting things done is always the challenge. Thank you for the support. Positive or negative I can handle it. Hanging a fender used to be childs play. Now just need a little help from my friends and family. I am learning about...
I wouldn't sell one for $200. so I would get the one John has. I just know how hard they are to find complete and unhacked I still have a few friends and businesses that have CUCV's. I could hardly even begin to diagnose and repair a hacked engine wiring harness on any vehicle for $200. That...
