Finished my sliding battery box. I also upgraded the cables to 4/0 - I really wanted about another foot of length to each cable and figured I'd move to 4/0 since I was replacing them anyways.
I had to go with 4 rails because each pair is rated for 148lbs. and with 3 batteries and the box...
In case you don't have this, it might help.
Also, if it's just for parts, can you put it in neutral and tow it out? I'd think the price would go up if you got it to run :)
I was thinking, when I build mine of putting 2 solar panels on the roof and rigging up some sort of portable sliding cover on the other side of the roof that I can pull over the panels so I can then set up some deck chairs. Have a rope railing attached to telescoping anchors at each corner...
If this has been posted before, well, I searched and couldn't find it, so I'm posting it now in case anyone does a search under the title key words. When I searched I did find threads but with no specific numbers, just advice on how much would probably be good enough.
The ground/negative wire...
I have a whole folder full of manuals and I frequently confer with them to find stuff out. But I'm learning as I go and if I had known that was the flywheel (I did caution others about my ignorance) it would've been easier to search. I did a further search from the first response and came...
Well, I have a shop I go to, but I'm always looking to save money. What are your limitations? Just stuff you can turn with a wrench? What's your hourly rate? Sounds like you're mobile or do you prefer to work out of a shop? Any fabrication/welding?
Ever work with solar, know anything about...
As for the batteries going, I have a external charger and keep the batteries out when the truck is idle for a long time. I think I'm more likely to run into 12v situations and it could be convenient to have a 12v jump in place to help people out
The main reason I thought about disconnecting it...
How are you doing on weight? Don't forget that a gallon of water weighs 8 lbs. Liquid weight can add up fast.
Lithium batteries are expensive but really light. Try a search for DIY Powerwall.
A lot depends on how long you plan to stay away from civilization at any given time. Oh yeah, and...
I just don't seem to have a use for it. My other vehicles are 12v and I'm surrounded by a city of 12v vehicles. I'm putting a separate 12v system in, maybe I'll hook it up to that and put a tag above it to mark it as a 12v jump.
I'm also planning on making my deuce into a super-RV.
Think about maybe a place to put a spare tire (and a way to get it down). I plan a rack behind the passenger side and a portable crane to get the tire up/down. And if you're gonna be carrying a spare tire, you need a little room set...
I'm doing some work on the battery box and figured now's a good time to change the battery cables. I'm upgrading them to a thicker cable, y'know, because I can.
On the passenger side, corner of the cab is an external power plug. I'm wondering if I should cut this out of the system.
I've...
I don't know if TMG actually pays attention to their customer service.
I recently ordered something from them, and almost immediately remembered that I didn't need one of the items I ordered. I immediately sent an e-mail (it was the middle of the night, so it wasn't like they were open and the...
You might be interested in the Michelin Truck Tire Data Book, specifically the 2010 edition. You can find a dl to it here: https://www.vrakking-tires.com/175-inch/637-215-75r175-michelin-xta-new.html
I think 2010 was the last year the XL was offered. If you have another model, you can search...
