On J1939 links, the resistance across the data pins should be 60 ohms. This is created by a pair of 120 ohm resistors across the pins. Here's the thing - the resistance is not provided entirely (or at all) by the ECU module, it is provided by resistors elsewhere in the application - in the...
Followup - OK I am staring at the wiring PDF for the flange-mount CTIS controller, and I see there are actually two different diagnostic ports indicated. J1708 and J1939/CAN. You bought the NexIQ right and IIRC that interface supports both 1708 and 1939 protocols. I can tell you have put time...
In the ECU, the pin sockets in question are actually wired to something? I'm not so much surprised the terminal contact is there in the connector, but I'd be surprised if they wired it to the PCB for no reason. If they are in fact wired I am more inclined to think they do work but perhaps we...
If you want to tell me what to look for - certain pins being wired on the jack, or a certain board - I'll go take my LMTV ECU apart. You know, for science.
Do I leave the truck overnight at the show, or take it home and bring it back on Sunday? I don't care either way, I just don't know how these things work, never done one before.
I emailed the address on their website to get more info about anything I might need to know or do to bring my truck down for the show. Haven't heard back so I guess I'll just show up!
suprman, well if it came to that I think I could just pull the pins out of the connector shell on the donor harness and move the shell over to replace my broken one. There are only like - I don't know - a million pins but probably still faster/easier than replacing the harness.
Oh sorry, M1078. Figure it's the same as the 5 ton, maybe I'm wrong. It looks like an amphenol whatever plug but you know they all kind of look the same.
So I've started the CTIS odyssey on my new truck. Previous owner had it disconnected. So I hooked up the ECU, 5 flashlight lights. I am everyone is really shocked by this outcome. But this is not why I am writing, lots of good threads about troubleshooting CTIS.
When I plugged the ECU in I...
Just some quick pictures of my M101A1 because hey why not. Happy Wednesday.
It's a 1968 and I got it with the 3-color NATO, which was a 1998 repaint the military did. Late last year I painted it 686A CARC myself, sourced a NOS tarp as well as sides and bows (partly in thanks to the SS site)...
I looked into the roll cage thing a little more and it looks like FIA (and other sanctioning bodies) have regulations concerning the roll cages - incl. for trucks of this class. In turn some of the shops will build and provide certificates that they meet the standards (so they are race legal)...
Looks like - on the dakar trucks (iveco etc) they are doing an internal cage. If I had to guess they do members along the floor and the roof both and make a safety cell/cage. I agree about the weight on the cab lift - but then again seems like you could bring in a better lift system like they...
Sort of coming off this thread http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?149043-LMTV-cab-front-collision-damage-with-pics I got to thinking about safety improvements that can reasonably be made to a LMTV (in my case) or other MV.
I realize, of course, there is no substitute for a skilled and...
At the risk of regretting learning the honest answer, how are the MVs when they roll? My LMTV cab does not seem to be made of a lot, and there are a lot of awfully heavy things directly under it!
I had a look corrosion wise and it looked fine at a glance but I have not taken the dash apart yet. Everything else on the truck is working A-OK electrically. Right now I just think some of the breakers are old and tired - I've seen it before in other applications, they don't seem to last...
