A diesel will start with fluid assist IF you have disabled the GP's or heating grid. A diesel should not be started with fluid if they are not working because you may get a single GP that glows and puts a hole in the block.
Fuel system stays primed with check valves which exist typically in...
The OP's second post was discussing a starting issue related to GP's and using fluid. I'm confused, are you looking for the OP to start a second thread? If so, please advise so I can delete my posts.
The valving inside the LP just keeps the system primed and is part of the design of the pump itself. Prime could be lost realistically anywhere you you have an o-ring or rubber hose that is why you want to replace as a precaution instead of as a repair.
A carb squirts fuel into the engine when...
Based on your resistor bypass, someone did a hack job. I would avoid using any fluid starting assist until you understand proper GP operation and how to completely disable it if using ether. It can safely be done IF you understand how it all works. Like it was mentioned, get the system properly...
I would kill the Fram filter and install a Wix, equivalent, or higher quality filter just for peace of mind. I typically run a Napa Gold or Wix (probably the same filter just reboxed). I've never been happy with Frams quality. Just opinion...
It's been a few months but I think mine is somewhere around 6.5 qts for an oil change but I also pre fill the filter so maybe 7 qts is close. Not sure it would read 1.5 qts over, something is not right there.
Welcome to the site! Nice looking rig.
7 quarts of oil sounds on the high side. I think your oil light is on because it is idling too low. I would double check the idle speed and also confirm good oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. Rough idle could be a bad IP or injectors, could also be...
I would think a 2000 watt RMS inverter would be sized to not strain the stock system. Remember that is during normal operation. That size would peak around 3000-4000 watts which is going to load it up pretty good but in theory your peak only occurs for a short burst like a fridge turning on...
I don't even think gauges on new cars are even accurate. Since everything is interpreted by the engine computer then sent over a body network to a gauge module (your cluster), they are typically programmed to read dead nuts center until something bad has happened. Of course that is on a decent...
I agree with the 107 amps but that is assuming that the charging system is running. Current draw goes up to 125 amps if running off just the batteries. This is also assuming that the battery/charging voltage does not drop under load which it will. I'm going off of what the specs are. The unit...
My quick math says that a 3000 watt inverter operating at 24v DC is going to draw about 125 amps. Mind you that particular inverter surges to 6000 watts so you are reaching 250 amps. I would think you'd size the wire according to that current amount and distance from batts to inverter. I would...
Weird
Maybe your 6.2 likes to run naked for more horsepower???
What if you start in sans air filter and slowly put the assembly in place. Maybe it will shut down when you where it makes contact. I agree, I would look first at the IP wiring since that will shut it down ASAP.
I don't have HMMWV rims, just the tires. Goldneagle confirmed that setup on his rig so I would take his word for it. A word of caution when purchasing spacers...well...use caution when purchasing spacers.
There are systems out there (usually marine applications) that can solve this problem but its a recipe for disaster and expensive.
Agreed with the 3rd battery setup. What are the specs on the inverter and installation parts? Typically an inverter needs a bit more than just the bare minimum of...
I would recommend searching to see what others have done since this is very common.
Broken down, you have a few options some better than others depending on your needs and budget.
-spacers
-recenter the hummer rim
-DRW hubs for the axle
I would think that if you are using a 24v inverter that the truck would supply in theory 2400 watts (24v x 100amps) if spun at a high enough speed. Of course this is max current and occurs in a perfect world. In reality they may only produce say 90amps due to efficiency loss and age. Then you...
That's a good troubleshooting tip!
I vote for removing that temp sender for the dummy light and putting a temp gauge in. I really like my temp gauge especially when hauling lots of weight or when its super hot down here. Lot's of piece o' mind comes from looking down at that needle :)
