    Recovery adventure today

I guess I'll start a "parting out" thread with a better title.

    Stuck in reverse

Good morning Steel Soldiers! Well it's a dry day and I went ahead and popped that top cover off the transmission. Here are the pics. Might as well be a Rubiks Cube with 9 colors as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't know where to start. I do have a better camera nearby and can take other angles /...

    Recovery adventure today

From all the inquiries I'm getting, I am leaning towards parting out this truck. BUT I have a couple concerns. Where it is sitting now, I can leave it for a month or two but not beyond that. What happens when the stuff that makes it go is gone, and I'm left with a non-running frame plus parts? I...

It just says Crescent USA, I never knew that was a brand. It's soaking in oil now, the mechanism is frozen.

    Stuck in reverse

Wow, yes, that is my exact problem and I also have that same rail sticking way out like that--I noticed that already. Thanks! Something else I noticed: the pic in that thread showed an oil seal around that shift rod / shaft? I found an oil seal of about that size, in an envelope, in the glove...

    Stuck in reverse

Yeah, that's what Gimpyrobb said too, and he looked for it and I did too but no luck. If anyone recalls that thread title or who started it or something, that would be helpful. Otherwise I'll probably wait until the weekend to take the top cover off.

    Stuck in reverse

This thread is about the transmission issue I'm having with a winch deuce I recovered from Knox yesterday. The other thread is about the recovery but this one is strictly about the technical issue I'm having with the transmission. What happened is, the truck will only drive backwards. The...

    Recovery adventure today

Wow, thanks for looking. I did find this one, seems like the same issue, but not much in the way of resolution posted... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/46002-transmission-stuck-gear.html Edit to add: it seems like what the transmission is doing is combining Reverse with any other gear I...

    Recovery adventure today

Hey I've been searching for that other thread about a deuce stuck in reverse but so far not finding it. If you remember who posted it or anything, let me know. Whoops! I meant to edit my prior post, not quote myself. Sorry.

LOL gimp. You should see my inbox, it had already started. I may list a few parts in the Classifieds before it's all said and done. The mirror brackets are one piece I'm keeping for my deuce for sure.

The pictures look better than it really is. It's pretty ate up with rust. (fenders, toast. Cab under the doors, toast. Bed solid but peeling.) Dude shuffle that avatar and pass the eyebleach, please.

    Recovery adventure today

I bought a non-running winch deuce from Ft. Knox just to transfer the winch onto my existing deuce. The lot manager told me the only reason it was not running was because it had no slave receptacle and therefore could not be jumped. From previewing I also knew it had a sticking accelerator...

So you want to buy a cheap truck from GL?

Still waiting for EUC to clear. Lot manager thinks it will drive off with new batteries. Will let you know.

Man, I was gonna bid on that one but it's got an oil pan sitting under it...might have a bad leak...
