    1985 M1028 Gen 2 light

Can you get the original alternator rebuilt? It is a simple alternator and most any competent rebuild shop should be able to do it. Many of the members here have rebuilt their own with parts that are available in the Classified section. Here is more info on how to do that...

    1985 M1028 Gen 2 light

The ground on GEN2 is isolated, if it wasn't the sparks would fly. The terminal marked - on GEN2 is the ground. The GEN 2 ground is NOT the same as the ground on GEN1. GEN1 Positive is connected to the GEN2 Ground terminal, this terminal is isolated from the GEN2 case ground. It is "floating...

What did you do to your trailer today.

That indeed is a MT45F unit! I have it running on a 24 VDC battery system or 120VAC when connected to a shore line. It works very well and draws very little current. On the hottest of days during the RT66 Convoy, the unit ran for 2-3 minutes in a 15 min span. When parked for 3 days the...

CUCV manual glow plug switch install issue

That's why the stud is there and not a rivet. You can have the normal card functions and a by-pass function without ever touching the vehicle wiring. Add a wire to that stud, thru a momentary switch to ground and have a push button by-pass. Just one of the few modifications that were added to...

    M1009 steel brake line diameter/size

I called Inline Tube a couple of weeks ago to order new brake lines. The person that answered the phone informed me that they have "no brake lines for a K30 Chevy. We have nothing for trucks over 3/4 ton" I just said "Ok, good bye."

    6.2 Revving and Missing

Whos installed HAM Radio's in CUCV's

Pretty straightforward install. I went by the Tarheel instructions and it works very well. Just remember to waterproof the connector on the bottom of the antenna and be sure that the connections to the body are free of any rust or corrosion. I will see if I can get a better picture of the...

Whos installed HAM Radio's in CUCV's

That is a Tarheel 75 on a custom made mount. Painted in CARC. It works great on all the ham bands.

Whos installed HAM Radio's in CUCV's

If it works and you are happy with the performance, that's all that matters. I prefer the longer antennas that are closer to 1/4 wavelength (at lower freqs) or larger in the upper bands. Now if I could just get rid of all that noise at 6 meters in my work truck.

Whos installed HAM Radio's in CUCV's

+3 dBi. VSWR: <2:1 on the Compact antenna? It's only 7.5 inches long. Really??? 2:1 is a FAIL in my word of antennas. Anything above 1.5 gets fixed. "provide revolutionary performance in NLOS (Non-Line-Of-Sight) obstructed environments such as behind buildings, in garages, behind other vehicles...

Whos installed HAM Radio's in CUCV's

Those radials are a great idea. I may need to try that on my rig.

Whos installed HAM Radio's in CUCV's

Exactly why I didn't use military antennas. They perform more like a resistor that sorta radiates... a little.

Few pictures of the M1009 and the various antennas that have been installed. Some have been replaced with others. IC7000 and a TMD710G and a Cobra 25 11 meter rig.

Trying to fix issues on new to me M1008 - now won't start

There is no Neutral safety switch in the schematics. You are correct, Tinstar had an issue a couple of months ago with the key switch, replaced it and the issues ceased.

Trying to fix issues on new to me M1008 - now won't start

I had a M1009 that had a similar issue. Try taking it out of Park and run the gear selector down to the lowest gear and back up to Park. Also try jiggling the gear selector while trying to start the truck, had one truck that was temperamental with that as well.
