I, too, have a soft spot for the Elcamino. I have a 67. Probably why I like that version best. It was an original 283/power glide car with the Malibu package. Now has a 400 crate engine with a TH350. Anyway, it was my first car and a lot of fun. They are already pretty light in the rear...
Are you looking for this type of look? The color is wrong, it's just the walmart rattle can dark green camo, but I used the marking pattern for, I believe, pre-64 trucks.
Ok. I have a 1952 Mack M51A2. Has the LDS-465-1A engine. Steering box on the frame says Hydrapower.
Was driving last week, and was fine for several miles. Went around a roundabout, straightened up, seemed normal. Then noticed that steering was a little sloppy, started noticing that...
I hope that it doesn't die out. It's the only rally I'm close enough to get to. I wasn't able to make it this year, unfortunately. The m51 lost the power steering on the way there. Hopefully next year will be the one.

I personally don't have the experience with it, but I found this when I was looking at one.
As I understand it, the 805 can be reconfigured to run single phase. I don't know the specifics, but I believe it looses capacity/output when doing so.
Eventually, you start making up uses to justify them. Haha. Used mine as a mobile work platform today. I had loaned out my pole saw and needed to clear some limbs.
After I get the hydraulics for the bed going, I'll haul some gravel, etc. But mostly it's just a toy to drive around.
